Nature & Scope




The YMCA Beyond the Bell Program is an after-school program for children grades 1-5 that provides tutoring, skills development, physical activity, and social engagement. The Team Lead will lead the program while working directly under the Beyond the Bell Program Coordinator to direct staff and work directly with children in the program when it is running. The Team Lead Position will follow the Beyond the Bell structure and curriculum, utilizing a 1 to 5 leader to child ratio, and instilling the Y's core values of caring, respect, responsibility, honesty, and inclusivity. Children will be actively engaged in improving social, numeric and literacy skills while participating in sports, outdoor play, arts and crafts.

Leadership and program planning for children of grade's 1-5 Operating the program within the Y's child behavior management guidelines Building healthy relationships with children, parents, teachers, principals, janitors Being a play partner and homework helper and enjoy interacting with children ages 6-11 Assisting with implementation of educational programming, including interactive play, literacy, mathematics, science, building, drama, games, team building, daily physical activity, and sports Encouraging a safe workplace and ensuring policies and procedures are followed

Relevant experience, training, and education working or volunteering with children and youth Strong communication skills, both spoken and written Ability to work individually and in groups with diverse children and their families Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain) Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
