Main Purpose of the Job:



The goal of the position is to support Rowan House Society in securing sufficient financial resources in its efforts to address domestic violence and abuse in the community, specifically through the development and direction of the main fundraising initiatives of the organization.

The positions will support and oversee the Community Engagement Team to ensure long-term financial sustainability for the organization. The role is responsible for building effective relationships with major donors, corporate supporters and foundations to meet specific fundraising goals through the stages of the donor cycle. The position is responsible for planning, executing and the oversight of the Fund Development and Marketing and Communication plans for Rowan House Society.

Duties and Responsibilities:



In collaboration with the Executive Director, adhere and maintain Rowan House Society's plan to enhance the organization's image in the community, promoting its programs and voluntarism. Oversee accurate monthly record keeping of philanthropy revenue with the support of the Community Engagement Team. Annually provide input to the Executive Director in developing expense and revenue budgets and determining required resources to meet the organization's needs. Annually prepare proposed budget for fundraising activities in collaboration with the Community Engagement Team. In conjunction with the annual budget process, develop a strategic fundraising plan to attract and maintain donors and sponsors. Plan to be presented with departmental budget by the due date set by the Finance Lead. The strategic plans will include goals, objectives, resources, timelines, budgets, and stewardship. This will be completed in collaboration with the Community Engagement Team. Oversee all philanthropy activities to meet annual and specific project goals, including, but not limited to, donor cultivation, special events (sponsorships), and appropriate related initiatives. Review monthly to ensure goals are on target. Continually cultivate and update a portfolio of major gift prospects among business, individuals, service clubs, and foundation donors, this includes initiating presentations. Approve sponsorship packages for various events and campaigns and solicit identified prospects to reach the set goals. Implement funding and fundraising trends in the non-profit sector, around fundraising campaign and marketing initiatives. Remain current in developing Community Engagement procedures and best practices. Be innovative in developing new fundraising methods to create and improve on new and current events. Maintain and strengthen relations with donors, stakeholders, volunteers, staff, local media and community partners in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Community Engagement Team. Oversee the development, organization, and coordination of all logistics required for fundraising events to ensure they operate smoothly, efficiently, generate a net revenue, and build strong relationships with all supporters. Approve grant and proposal writing, special events, and appropriate related initiatives. Review monthly to ensure goals are on target. Oversee volunteer process and process for securing Gift in Kind donations with the Community Engagement Coordinator. Work with Data Analyst, Community Engagement Coordinators and Executive Director to develop Annual Report to the Community. Oversee and approve the Communications and Marketing plan for the organization.

Community Relations:



In collaboration with the Executive Director develop and strengthen community relationships to facilitate increased donors, funders and sponsors within the Foothills and surrounding area.

Provide community presentations (donors/community groups etc.) as required.

Attend external events, committees and meetings as required.

Actively represents Rowan House Society to establish networks and engage prospects.

Participate in program promotion within the community.

Attend appropriate community agency meetings as required by the Executive Director and bring forward new opportunities for partnering with other organizations or committee meetings.

Work from a Trauma Informed approach (oral and written) in providing support to donors, funders, sponsors and the community.

Administrative:



Ensure Policies and Procedures are reviewed on a regular basis and are used to support in day-to-day operations and process alignment.

Collaborate with Executive Director to develop and update program policies and procedures as required.

Schedule the required touch base and annual review meetings with staff members and ensure the appropriate documentation is completed and a copy is provided to the staff members.

Review and ensure that the Grievance Process is being followed.

Ensure appropriate documentation for performance improvement processes when supporting staff members with professional development and growth.

In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop and maintain an annual training system along with an orientation process for new staff.

Conduct regular touch bases and annual reviews for Community Engagement Coordinators and Community Engagement Administrator.

Track and ensure direct reports training, and certificates are up to date, which included Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Check.

Review staff members timecards to ensure lunch breaks, vacation, sick time, and personal days are being scheduled. Ensure staff members are receiving approval prior to any overtime hours.

Responsible for the selection, hiring, coaching and performance management of the Community Engagement Coordinators and the Community Engagement Administrator.

Participate in budget development and oversight for the Community Engagement Team.

Ensure the Community Engagement Team is aware of the budget and that the programs are in alignment with the approved budget.

Participate in business planning (strategic, operational and program logic model) and program related implementation.

Participate in the development of new initiatives and overall strategy.

Monitor data entry on Blackbaud / Raiser's Edge database and ensure accuracy.

In collaboratione with the Executive Director, reviewthe completed grant applications, reports and agreements.

Professional Development:

Attend and participate in leadership trainings or opportunities to enhance learning opportunities and areas of growth.

Attend staff meetings, Town Hall meetings and professional development opportunities as required.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or equivalent post-secondary education and/ or experience. Minimum 3 years of related and recent experience in stewardship, donor relations or equivalent role. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Knowledge of the effects of domestic violence and abuse Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and Rowan House's mission, vision, and values Knowledge of community resources, specifically in the Foothills area Commitment to understanding cultural humility, diversity and supporting equality of opportunities Awareness of the unique cultural and spiritual needs of Indigenous individuals, families and communities and a strong understanding of Indigenous communities and the realities and issues that impact them. A creative thinker and writer with strong writing, editing and presentation abilities. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to develop rapport with internal and external stakeholders. Working knowledge of community engagement/ fund development principles and public relations. An understanding of stewardship best practices. Understanding of event planning, demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks on a tight schedule. Proven ability to work with a database system, preferably Blackbaud / Raiser's Edge and Track it Forward. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential. Effective time management skills. Must possess exceptional public relations, interpersonal and communications (written and verbal) skills. Willingness to be innovative and creative in enhancing current processes. Ability to think and act strategically and systematically. Able to plan, organize and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines. Can effectively manage multiple tasks and varying workloads. Ability to work together in a team setting by being positive, professional and approachable. Ability to maintain a calm manner, utilize critical thinking strategies in unpredictable circumstance and to respond effectively. Must be discreet and maintain confidentiality to safeguard the security of Rowan House Society. Ability to work together in a team setting by being positive, professional, and approachable. Working Conditions:



Flexibility is required within this role, evening and weekends may be required This position is a hybrid position working from Okotoks or High River location with the option to at times work from home with approval from Executive Director Rowan House Society services the second largest geographic area in the province which means that we support the following areas: Foothills County, Vulcan County and MD Willow Creek. Transportation to these areas is required
