Program Lead, CNIB PEI

Full-Time, Permanent Charlottetown, PEI CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Program Lead, CNIB PEI! Reporting to the Manager, Programs, NS & PEI, the Program Lead, CNIB PEI will oversee the delivery of CNIB client-focused programs in PEI including planning recreation and social events and overseeing the recruitment and retention of volunteers. The successful candidate must be an organized team player, who\xe2\x80\x99s ready to have fun planning events, getting to know people, and developing a sense of positivity, empowerment, and community amongst people living with sight loss in PEI.

Your impact at CNIB

  • Host in-person and virtual social and recreation events to create peer support opportunities, while providing real life opportunities to practice new skills.
  • Recruit, train, engage and support a team of volunteers to deliver CNIB recreation and Vision Mate programs throughout Prince Edward Island.
  • Through consultations, training sessions and hands-on demonstrations introduce and teach people with sight loss how to use assistive technology, apps and innovative products designed to enhance independence.
  • Assist in the Smart Life Centre (formerly Shop CNIB) with product demonstrations and sales.
  • Evaluate all programs and develop best practices.
  • Research and identify resources that are available to individuals with sight loss.
Requirements

Who you are:

  • Experience in creating impactful and engaging programs with a participant focus, ideally related to recreation, volunteers, and/or technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills when communicating with a diverse audience; you must be passionate about working with seniors!
  • The ability to meaningfully engage volunteers, ensuring they have the resources, training, and motivation they need to be successful.
  • The skills to distill information and present it during engaging and informative presentations and training workshops.
  • A demonstrated understanding and track record of championing diversity and accessibility issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Professional attitude, results-oriented, strategic and flexible.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint as well as virtual platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • 1-3 years of experience in program development and delivery.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (Communications, Technology, Accessibility, Education, Recreation, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of adaptive technology or a passion to learn.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit or charity.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Work Environment

  • Willingness to work flexible hours (including evenings as needed).
  • Moderate travel will be required; a driver\xe2\x80\x99s license is not required.
  • Working in an office with some occasional \xe2\x80\x9cwork from home\xe2\x80\x9d days.
