Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated program Instructor to join our team at Little Medical School Waterloo, a STEM school providing educational programming for children aged 3-12. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tutoring or teaching, with a focus on inspiring children to explore the exciting world of science, and health with medical science at the forefront. This role involves creating a fun and interactive learning environment that fosters curiosity and creativity among young learners. Candidates who wish to apply should have a strong background or interest in the biological and health sciences.

Duties

Understand and execute the proper curriculum for the program being delivered with excitement. Facilitate hands-on experiments and projects that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Provide individualized support to participants, ensuring each student understands the concepts being taught. Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere that promotes teamwork and collaboration among participants. Monitor participant progress and provide feedback to parents or guardians as needed. Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, adhering to all safety protocols. Collaborate with fellow instructors to enhance the overall program experience through shared ideas and resources. Ensure that all resources are present for the program deliverables and having adequate communication with Operations Manager when supplies, resources or training is required. Materials and supplies will be provided, instructors do require transportation to program locations.

Qualifications

A background in education or health sciences is preferred, preferably with at least some university or college level education. Previous experience in tutoring or early childhood education is an asset but not required. Strong ability to engage children and foster a love for learning in STEM subjects. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with children and communicate with parents/guardians effectively. Must be patient, enthusiastic, and adaptable to meet the diverse needs of participants. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative in activity planning and execution. Little Medical School Waterloo requires all instructors provide a Vulnerable Sector Check and a valid First Aid & CPR-C certification.

Additonal Notes:

All training is provided, and scheduling is flexible. You only teach the classes that fit in your schedule. Hours worked will vary depending on the number of classes/parties/camps being taught at the time.
