Job Description


As the Program Financial Consultant, you will provide expert financial analysis & planning support to various hospital programs. The position integrates and interprets financial and clinical information to enable effective, efficient resource management. The Program Financial Consultant will work with Directors, Managers and Physicians in coordinating their annual operating budget, analyzing variances, and managing external reporting requirements.

Royal Victoria Reginal Health Centre (RVH) serves the community of Simcoe County and provides highly specialized services including but not limited to: Stroke, Cardiac, Oncology, Neonatal Intensive Care, Adult & Youth Mental Health, and has been recently designated as a Level III Trauma Centre. RVH is undergoing significant growth, including a capital plan that will see the current North Campus double in size over the next ten years, while developing the new South Campus in Innisfil. Analysis of Program Financial and Statistical Information

  • Detailed analysis of financial and statistical results, business cases and budgets
  • Trending and forecasting of program results
  • Provide recommendations to program management, financial management and senior leadership regarding the program based on the analysis
  • Communicate with the program personnel and finance accounting personnel around the results, and occasionally with vendors regarding invoices.
Assist Program and Leadership with Budgeting
  • Work with programs to develop their budgets
  • Assist director and program leadership with budget assumptions and consolidation
Education of Program Area Regarding Financial Policies and Tools
  • Educate new managers and staff as necessary regarding budget tools, use of the Meditech general ledger, and MIS guidelines as required.
  • Provide program management with advice regarding budgets, MIS reporting, Ministry financial / statistical requirements.
External Reporting and Communication
  • Review and assist the programs with statistical reporting for the LHIN, MOHLTC and other provincial agencies
  • Communication with external clients regarding reporting results
Qualifications:

Education:
  • Completion of a university degree program (B.Comm, M.B.A. or equivalent) and/or professional designation program (CMA/CGA/CA)
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of financial analysis experience in a healthcare organization
Competencies:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff
  • Sound organizational and planning with the ability to multi-task and meet conflicting deadlines
  • Advanced data management & statistical analysis skills
  • Commitment to RVH vision, mission and values.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications is required.
Unless otherwise stated applicants must have a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and must demonstrate proven workplace excellence through commitment to strong job performance and attendance.
