Program Development and Innovation Lead, College of Pharmacy and NutritionPlease note that a strong internal candidate has been identified.Primary Purpose: As a member of the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition, the Program Development and Innovation Lead will strategically create and implement innovative instructional, experiential, assessment, and professional development programming for the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Bachelor of Science in Nutrition (BScNutr) programs.Nature of Work: The goals of the PharmD and BSc (Nutrition) programs are to graduate pharmacists and dietitians who use their acquired, professional knowledge and skills to benefit patients, communities, and populations. Didactic education and experiential learning both play significant roles in ensuring our graduates have the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies necessary to enter practice.Reporting to the Associate Dean Academic the successful candidate will function with a high level of independence, decision-making and accountability. This position also requires short, medium, and long-term planning, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, preceptors, and other external partners and collaborators.Accountabilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of instructional, experiential, and assessment activities in the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. Activities related to this include:

  • Lead college-wide initiatives related to instructional-, experiential-, and assessment-related program development and innovation, such as curriculum renewal, remediation procedures, and professional development opportunities for staff and faculty
  • Collaborate with the Dean and Associate Dean Academic in overseeing College- and University-wide initiatives that contribute to student success, operational efficiencies, and program excellence
  • Identify emerging trends in health sciences education, specifically in pharmacy and dietetics, and integrate best practices in a local context
  • Champion the integration of professional identity formation into both curricula, creating opportunities for students to regularly critically reflect and explore dissonance encountered in this process
  • Advocate for and collaborate with Indigenous scholars, Elders, and community partners to Indigenize and decolonize instructional, experiential, and assessment practices
  • Champion EDIA initiatives by incorporating principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and antiracism into all program development activities
  • Create and facilitate student learning opportunities to enhance preparation and success, including orientation activities, check ins, and remediation support
  • Develop and maintain competency-based assessment tools, assessment-related resources, and related documents
  • Develop and execute strategies to recruit, recognize, and retain high-quality preceptors and practice sites for the Experiential Learning programs
  • Design, coordinate, and administrate training and ongoing professional development for preceptors, faculty, and staff regarding teaching, learning, and assessment
  • Collect, analyze, and use quality improvement data from student, preceptor, faculty, and staff feedback to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making regarding program development and innovation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement and oversee audit processes in the Experiential Learning programs, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, preceptor and site requirements, and preceptor competency, and providing necessary support to address deficiencies
  • Collaborate with other health science programs and practice sites to advance interprofessional education opportunities
  • Liaise with colleagues from other universities and faculties to facilitate knowledge generation and sharing
  • Work collaboratively with a wide variety of teaching and learning stakeholders in consultation, committee work, and partnerships
  • Lead ongoing assessments of projects and initiatives in achievement of stated goals
  • Seek opportunities to participate in research and knowledge translation related to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) regarding program development and innovation at the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition and University of Saskatchewan through presentations, publications, etc.

QualificationsEducation: A first professional degree in Pharmacy (e.g. Bachelor's degree or PharmD) or Nutrition is required. A graduate-level degree (e.g., MSc, MBA, PhD, Post-baccalaureate PharmD, etc.) in a relevant field is required.Licenses: The successful applicant must be licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to practice pharmacy or dietetics in Saskatchewan.Experience: A minimum of five years of practice experience is required. Previous teaching and evaluation of students and experience with assessment methodologies is required.Skills: Demonstrated understanding of current and evolving pharmacy and dietetics entry-to-practice requirements and competencies; ability to identify emerging trends in health sciences education through literature and collaboration with others; ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; exemplary written communication; effective time management and organizational skills; self-motivation and high level of initiative; ability to effectively embrace change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; familiarity with Microsoft Office, Canvas, CORE Experiential Learning Management System, Canva, and Cascade is considered an asset.Inquiries regarding this position can be directed to Charity Evans atDepartment: College of Pharmacy and Nutrition
