Position Details
Full-Time - 75 hours bi-weekly
Primarily Monday to Friday, some weekends as required
Mixture of daytime and evening work
Starting hourly rate from $21.30-$22.60 depending on experience/education
There will be a three-month probationary period.
About Us
Initiatives for Just Communities (IJC) is a non-profit, charitable organization that operates four community justice programs: El'dad Ranch, Touchstone, Open Circle, and CoSA. These programs support people with intellectual disabilities, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and those who are currently, or have been previously, incarcerated. The Position
The Visions and Voices Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of the activities of the Visions and Voices speaker's bureau. The Program Coordinator's primary focus is arranging and overseeing the speaker's bureau engagements and mentoring presenters. They are additionally responsible for relevant program invoicing and fostering relationships with FASD community networks and partners.
What you will do
Build and maintain safe and supportive relationships with Visions and Voices presenters, including intentional support to presenters regarding their professional speaking goals.
Lead meetings with Visions and Voices presenters to discuss personal and program objectives, challenges, and successes, provide coaching, and ensure personal and program goals are being met.
Attend presentations, and support presentations as needed, including providing transportation, facilitation, co-presenting, coaching, seeking audience feedback, and debriefing.
Build relationships, and network with community networks and partners, community member groups, education groups, professionals, and other interested Visions and Voices audiences.
Participate as a volunteer with the Manitoba FASD Coalition.
Coordinate the speaking engagement calendar; book and arrange details such as presentation rates and invoicing, matching speakers with relevant presentations, transportation, and presentation content.
Conduct program finances related to invoicing and payments to speakers and oversight of credit card expenditures.
Assist with the Visions and Voices budget and reports to funders and IJC teams.
Anticipate increased program needs and notify the Program Manager to mitigate potential impacts.
Ensure compliance with all legal and organizational requirements, policies, and standards, including those outlined in the IJC Handbook, IJC procedures and guidelines, and Community Living Disability Services standards and licensing regulations.
Collaborate with other Program Coordinators to ensure effective and coordinator operations across the organization.
Help create, build, and maintain valued social roles for individuals receiving support.
Provide safe and culturally relevant supports, ensuring that the supports offered respects and aligns with the values, traditions, and needs of the individual.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
Post-secondary education in a related social services field or the equivalent in work experience. Suitable combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to meet operational expectations while providing effective service.
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate in a clear and effective manner.
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to draft correspondence in a clear and effective manner.
Strong desire to work with individuals who live with FASD.
Excellent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate cultural competence and understanding of diversity, inclusivity, and equity issues. This includes respecting and valuing different cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and identities to ensure equitable access to services for all clients.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Ability to assess risk and set safe & appropriate boundaries.
Intermediate level computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, including Sharepoint.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, including adhering to PHIA and FIPPA.
Participation in training opportunities and willingness to learn and adapt to new process' or procedures.
Understanding of the issues and challenges associated with FASD.
Assets
Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Conditions of Employment
