TIE (Tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship) is a program within the College of Engineering, responsible for growing innovation and entrepreneurial thinking and culture within the College of Engineering. The position of Program Coordinator will provide coordination and support to the establishment of the program and future program offerings. The incumbent will work with the La Borde chair in Engineering Entrepreneurship and unit leadership within the SoPD (School of Professional Development) to assist with development, promotion, and delivery of entrepreneurship programming.
Nature of Work:
Reporting to the La Borde chair in Engineering Entrepreneurship, this position is responsible for assisting in developing strategies, implementing plans, and coordinating activities related to entrepreneurial activities across the institution.
The volume of work is high, and the nature of work is self-directed, unstructured, and deadline driven. The incumbent will be responsible for managing their own workload by setting priorities, meeting targets and deadlines, and reporting on successful outcomes. Knowledge of the campus administration environment is required for success in this position, along with experience building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
Flexibility in working hours is necessary, as there will be some evening commitments.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
Program Administration & Coordination
Under the guidance of the LaBorde Chair in Engineering entrepreneurship, assist with the administration and coordinate the delivery of academic and co-curricular programming offered within the TIE (Tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship) ecosystem, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with strategic goals. Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the TIE ecosystem to support the successful delivery of programs and initiatives within the College of Engineering. Campus Outreach & Engagement
Plan and execute outreach activities across the campus community to raise awareness and attract participants to TIE programs, events, and opportunities. Stakeholder Relationship Building
Actively engage with community leaders, entrepreneurs, and external stakeholders to foster meaningful partnerships and support the growth of the TIE ecosystem. Data Management & Reporting
Manage the collection, analysis, and reporting of key program metrics and performance indicators to support data-informed decision-making. Marketing & Promotion
Assist in the execution of strategic marketing initiatives aimed at promoting TIE programs and enhancing engagement within the campus community. Content Creation
Develop promotional materials such as presentations, videos, and signage to effectively communicate the value and impact of TIE initiatives. Other Duties as Assigned
Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the success of the TIE ecosystem and its stakeholders.
Education:
Undergraduate degree in a related field.
Experience:
3-5 years' direct experience as an entrepreneur or within entrepreneurial environments, or an equal combination of work and educational experience. Previous program management and social media coordination would be an asset. Familiarity with the Tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship program would be an asset
Skills:
Superior written and oral communication; well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills; demonstrated decision-making skills; effective writing and editing skills; proficient working knowledge of design and web-based applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva; highly organized and able to work independently on multiple projects with competing demands. The incumbent must possess an understanding of the nature and challenges inherent to starting and growing a business and also hold a high level of knowledge and expertise in the strategy and process of technological innovation.
