An exciting opportunity exists for the right individual to join a progressive large non-profit organization as a Program Coordinator for a Day Centre in Coquitlam. The position entails developing and managing all aspects of a Day Program that provides individualized community inclusion services to adults with diverse and challenging abilities.



The program provides both community-based and home-based activities, including social, recreational, vocational, daily living skills, skill development and leisure recreation activities within a supported environment. Program and activity schedules are created to reflect the needs, preferences, and goals of each individual.



This leadership position, which reports to the Program Manager of Staffed Adult Residences and Community Inclusion, accepts responsibility for the daily operation of all aspects of the Centre and its satellite programs. The Program Coordinator directly oversees and supervises a medium sized team of personnel to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to individuals and their families. The Program Coordinator is also responsible for continued growth and development of the program through promoting the services, facilitating referrals, and meeting with new service recipients and families. Other duties include ongoing evaluation of program policies, ensuring that program activities operate within the Society policies and procedures, professional standards, and applicable legislation.



The Program Coordinator assists the Program Manager to perform a variety of professional activities to support the growth and development of the department including but not limited to administration, budgeting, internal controls, contract procurement and enforcement, inspections, placements, special projects, quality assurance, assessment and negotiation of fees for service.

Key Responsibilities Include:




Oversee the day-to-day operations of Day Centre and programs at satellite locations Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, accreditation, and internal policies and procedures Use current and best practices to provide solutions to decision making and problem solving Work in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization Develop, implement, and evaluate new programming within the scope of the department as needed Contract procurement, budget management, and promotion of the program/agency Ensure a high standard of service delivery, through applied knowledge of resources, advocacy, and ongoing assessments Collaborate with service recipients, family members, advocates, stakeholders, professionals, and personnel to design and deliver services Provide orientations, guidance, ongoing support, supervision, and assistance to the team Delegation of tasks to the team; including monitoring, assessing, and modifying the workload Liaise with the Human Resources team on recruitment, collective agreement, progressive discipline, and labour relations issues On-call duties

Job Qualifications and Must Have Experience:




Minimum of two (2) years working directly with adults with disabilities, brain injuries, and/or complex health issues Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of management experience in community living or health care setting Minimum bachelor degree from a recognized university in Therapeutic Recreation or related discipline Experience in the public or non-profit sector Experience designing, implementing, and overseeing programs for adults with disabilities, brain injuries, and/or complex health issues Experience with Behaviour Management or Behaviour Intervention

This is a Full Time position of 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm with flexibility to accommodate occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Some local travel required.

Compensation:

$33.77 per hour
