. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to the Research Manager.
The position will require involvement in multiple research coordination tasks with both internal and external partners and collaborators. The position requires high attention to detail and strong organization skills and has the potential to impact the integrity and success of research projects. The Program Coordinator's responsibilities may include but are not limited to: reviewing and triaging research requests; coordinating research-related tasks and ensuring tasks are completed according to project timelines; executing communications tasks across several platforms; as well as coordination duties such as organizing meetings, taking and distributing minutes, and maintaining proper study records. The program coordinator will also be required to communicate and liaise within DFM and its affiliated PCA clinics, as well as study partners and practices outside the university.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
(job functions include but are not limited to):
Under limited supervision, responsible for performing a range of research and coordination tasks in support of study objectives
Maintaining up-to-date databases containing contact information, ongoing research projects, research interests and expertise, and staffing across DFM and Network members; maintaining privacy and confidentiality
Reviewing and triaging research support requests
Liaising with existing and potential SAPCReN practices and/or community physicians affiliated with the DFM to ensure strong relationships and information sharing; recruiting new practices to join SAPCReN/CPCSSN
Coordinating contracts, research agreements, consent forms and ethics applications as needed for SAPCReN/CPCSSN projects
Executing communications plans on behalf of DFM Research and SAPCReN, including but not limited to: maintaining up to date information on respective websites, coordinating content for newsletters, supporting targeted communications to members, and managing social media accounts
Contributing content for annual reports for the DFM research program
Coordinating research grant applications as appropriate, ensuring all grant requirements are met (eg., collecting CVs/LOS from collaborators)
Qualifications / Requirements:
Minimum bachelor's degree in science/health sciences/social sciences, communications or similar
A minimum 2-3 years related work experience in a research and/or clinic setting, particularly working with physicians and patients
Strong experience in project coordination, such as maintaining a GANTT chart, liaising with project staff and partners
Intermediate database experience required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office
Knowledge of Alberta's primary care system, including key players (i.e., PCA, PCNs, AMA, etc.)
Working knowledge of electronic medical records used in primary care clinics would be an asset
Training and experience in communications and/or marketing is an asset
Leadership, communication skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills, and interpersonal skills required
Good judgment and concern for detail and accuracy
Ability to receive direction, collaborate with others in setting goals, and work effectively in teams to achieve agreed upon goals
Ability to work independently and promote good teamwork
Ability to communicate well with colleagues from various disciplines and external collaborators within a complex initiative
Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of research forms and data
Thorough knowledge of ethical aspects of research, data security and privacy and good understanding of research methods
