The Black Health Strategy team at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a full-time, contract (15 months) Implementation Coordinator to work as part of a provincial team that supports the spread and scale of AMANI: Mental Health & Substance Use Services for Black Youth (www.amaniservices.ca). AMANI is Canada's first hospital-community partnership dedicated to improving mental health and substance use health care for Black youth. AMANI supports a provincial network of hospital and community-based partners working together to deliver culturally responsive, evidence-based care across Ontario. The Implementation Coordinator will support the advancement of organizational transformation and systems changes in policies, programs and services for Black youth and their families across Ontario. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Black Health Strategy, with day-to-day work assignments provided by the project management team.
The successful candidate must have an in-depth understanding of the various pathways through which social determinants of health are amplified by anti-Black racism to undermine protective factors and enhance risk factors for poorer mental health outcomes and substance use concerns among Black youth. The successful candidate will possess strong competencies in project management and key partner engagement, and have a proven track record of collaboration with diverse Black communities from the onset of relationships through to implementation and evaluation phases. Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills, and an ability to balance competing priorities to support projects with tight deadlines is required. The candidate will also be committed to respectful, ethical, culturally responsive, and youth focused programming and aware of best practices related to engagement with Black youth and communities.
Key Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Applying evidence-informed approaches to implement and enhance the AMANI service delivery model.
Supporting teams in adopting the AMANI service delivery model, training support, and problem solving.
Supporting system and practice changes using implementation science, quality improvement frameworks, and change management strategies.
Developing implementation plans, tools, and processes tailored to contextualized community needs.
Providing expertise on integrating equity, justice, anti-racism, and anti-oppression principles and practices into models of care
Collaborating with community partners, including the Black Health Alliance, to build a shared vision for youth-centered and family-centered care
Engaging with diverse partners and collaborators, including youth, families, and service providers, to ensure culturally responsive implementation.
Collaborating with the data and evaluation team to analyze service data to identify trends, successes, and opportunities for improvement.
Supporting the development and implementation of enhancements to the AMANI service delivery model.
Coaching and guiding organizations in building capacity for virtual service delivery.
Supporting the Project Management Team in the preparation of quarterly, semi-annual and annual funding reports.
Other duties as assigned
This position will be located in Ontario, anywhere outside of the Greater Toronto Area. A valid driver's license and an ability to travel for work assignments throughout the province is required.
Job Requirements
This position requires the incumbent to have lived experience as a member of Ontario's diverse Black communities.
Master's Degree in relevant discipline (e.g. Health, Education, Social Services, or a related field).
Minimum 3 years of experience in mental health, substance use, or health services.
You will have a proven track record of coordinating and implementing health initiatives and/or community development work that centres the dismantling of anti-Black racism, anti-oppressive and anti-racist practices, culturally responsive clinical care and collective impact.
Strong background in implementation science, quality improvement, and change management.
Experience in community-based health initiatives with Black youth and families.
Demonstrated ability to engage diverse communities and promote health justice in service delivery.
Familiarity with provincial and local mental health and substance use health systems.
Demonstrated experience developing and supporting the implementation of project plans and processes, analytical problem solving, and prioritizing project needs.
Ability to manage multiple aspects of work simultaneously, work independently, as well as work within a diverse interdisciplinary team.
Excellent organization, communication, networking, presentation and facilitation skills are necessary.
Ability to work effectively in a wide-range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds and program areas within CAMH.
Bilingualism (French/English) or an ability to communicate in languages other than English, including Indigenous languages spoken in Ontario and languages and dialects spoken in the African Diaspora is an asset.
Strong PC software skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel), Internet Search and an ability to learn new software/programs quickly is required.
Ability to travel occasionally within Ontario for implementation support, with a valid Ontario driver's license
Reside outside of the GTA.
