Job Opportunity: Program Assistant - Transitions & Respite
The Program Assistant - Transitions & Respite will play a key role in supporting individuals with disabilities to thrive in community-based programs. This position combines leadership in respite programming with assistance in the Transitions Program, which focuses on employment readiness, life skills, and social development. The Program Assistant will foster an inclusive, safe, and engaging environment that promotes independence, social connection, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
Respite Program (Session Lead)
Lead and supervise respite sessions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
Plan and deliver engaging activities tailored to participants' needs and interests.
Support social inclusion, recreation, and community engagement opportunities.
Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants at all times.
Transitions Program (Assistant Role)
Support program delivery in employment readiness, life skills, and social skills development.
Assist participants in developing independence and confidence in daily living tasks.
Provide one-on-one and group support under the guidance of the Program Coordinator.
Encourage community involvement and participation in social opportunities.
General Duties:
Maintain accurate documentation, attendance, and progress notes.
Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and team members.
Contribute to program planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Uphold organizational values of inclusion, respect, and empowerment.
QualificationsHigh School Diploma (required); relevant post-secondary education in Social Services or a related field (required).
Min of 3 years experience working with pan-disability populations (required).
Strong computer, written, and oral communication skills.
Clear RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check (within one year).
Children's Services Intervention Check (within one year).
Current First Aid & CPR certification.Current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification.
Valid Class 5 driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance with a minimum $2,000,000 liability. (required)

Wage: $28.00-$30.00/hour plus benefits
Schedule:
Tuesday through Saturday shifts, including Thursday evening work
