The Program Assistant at Foothills Centre plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of client-centered care within the detox facility. Under the direction of Foothills Centre Management and the Program Manager, this position serves as a flexible member of the team, transitioning between program support and client care responsibilities as needed. The Program Assistant must be adaptable, collaborative, and capable of occasionally assuming supervisory duties to ensure effective program operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to agency policies and procedures to maintain consistency and compliance in program delivery
Collaborate with the Program Manager to assess Client needs and barriers to recovery, and provide direction as necessary
Facilitate client group sessions to support therapeutic interventions and promote recovery
Assist with basic client care activities, ensuring the well-being and safety of clients
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in addiction counseling and client care
Attend monthly staff meetings to contribute to program planning and review
Perform any other duties assigned by Foothills Centre Management to support the overall functioning of the facility
Complete relevant documentation to meet deadlines for Centre statistics
Qualifications
Completion of a degree program in Addictions Counseling and/or Social Science
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in the addictions field, with a focus on client care and support.
Minimum of six (6) months' experience in program supervision or coordination
Experience with case management
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance
Up to date First Aid and ASSIST or Suicide Prevention Training preferred
Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with experience leading group sessions or workshops
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in all interactions
Familiarity with 12 Step Programs and their application in addiction recovery
Valid Class 5 driver's license for transportation purposes considered beneficial but not required
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Knowledge of substance use disorders, detoxification protocols, and treatment resources preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Proficiency in computer applications, electronic medical records systems, and Microsoft Office suite
