The Brain Injury Association of Peel and Halton (BIAPH) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the needs of families and survivors of brain injury in Peel and Halton Regions. BIAPH provides advocacy, information, and resources to survivors of Acquired Brain Injuries, their families, and support networks. We promote the prevention of brain injuries, enhance quality of care and life, and offer community education.
Role Description
This is a part-time hybrid role for a Program Assistant, based in Peel-Halton with some remote work flexibility. The Program Assistant will be responsible for assisting with program management, providing administrative support, and facilitating effective communication within the organization. Daily tasks include coordinating program activities, maintaining records, supporting events, and interacting with members and stakeholders.
Availability
20 hours per week, primarily scheduled Monday-Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with evening commitments on Tuesdays (6:45-9:00 p.m., virtual) and Thursdays (6:45-9:00 p.m., in-person twice monthly across Peel-Halton).
Responsibilities
Assist with the facilitation of hybrid support groups
Coordinate guest speakers to provide relevant resources and support
Monitor group dynamics, address concerns, and encourage inclusive participation
Manage memberships, including processing renewals and conducting outreach
Respond promptly to member and community inquiries and resource requests
Prepare and distribute meeting and activity supplies
Maintain accurate attendance and update member contact information
Oversee member intake, follow-ups, and meeting/activity access support
Assist in planning and executing fundraising events
Engage with sponsors and donors; support fundraising preparation
Creating newsletters and content for social media.
Qualifications
Valid driver's license preferred.
CPR/First Aid certification and current Vulnerable Sector Check.
Proficiency in Google Workspace and Canva.
Relevant degree in Social Work, Psychology, Recreation Therapy, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
Knowledge or experience in the healthcare or non-profit sector is a plus.
