As a division of Student Services, International Services for Students provides holistic programs and services to support the international, newcomer and refugee student experience at SFU and manages the University's Study Abroad Programs (formal exchange, study abroad, faculty-led field schools) with over 130 partners around the globe to facilitate transformative international and intercultural learning opportunities for SFU students.
About the Role
The Program Assistant provides diverse administrative support to the planning and operations of field schools, academic exchange, and study abroad programs. The role assists the supervisor by responding to student requests, supporting program planning, preparation and execution, coordinating student registration, preparing documents and proposals and providing overall wraparound student support. Provides administrative and operational support to the Associate Director.
Qualifications
High School graduation and one-year post-secondary education with training in word processing, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing applications and office procedures.
3 years experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study ad experience is acceptable.

  • Good knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) and customer service skills.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent intercultural communications skills.
  • Ability to use standard office applications, and enterprise level information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP, or equivalent) at an intermediate level.
