Status: Full Time
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Media & Creative Arts
Campus/Location: North campus (primary), other campuses (Lakeshore or Carier Drive) depending on applied research and project work
Salary: Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.What you will do:As a professor, you\xe2\x80\x99ll empower a diverse group of learners to succeed in creatively leveraging technology to practically solve challenges. Youwill teach courses in the Interaction Design Cluster within the Faculty of Media & Creative Arts, particularly for the User-Experience Designgraduate certificate and bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include curriculum development, lesson planning,assessing student progress and achievement, class management, contribution in program development, applied research, and other co-curricular activity involvement. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as acollaborative team member to inspire other faculty to adopt emerging technologies and processes in their classes.You will also play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. The candidate will be expected to furtherdevelop community partnerships, as well as participate on Humber College/Departmental committees and advance college initiatives. Thisindividual will also contribute to the overall direction of the program, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the program, and developingand maintaining strong industry ties.QualificationsWhat you bring to the role:EducationTerminal degree preferred in related field (design, media production, computer science, engineering)Experience and SkillsMinimum of 5 years of experience in senior design management, research, or production roles.Industry acumen and practical experience is required in several of the following areas:

• Accessibility
• Applied research
• Computational arts
• Data analytics
• Design research
• Functional prototypes
• Generative AI
• Immersive experiences
• Universal design for learning
• Service design
• Spatial computing (VR/AR/XR)
• Virtual production
• Visual communication
• Web technologies
• Engaging and effective teaching approaches, especially with hybrid delivery modes
• Previous college teaching experience and knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations are assets
• Ability to evaluate student progress/achievement and assume responsibility for the overall assessment of the student\xe2\x80\x99s work within assigned courses
• Coaching and student support skills, with experience managing classroom dynamics
• Strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles
• A student focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including students, faculty, support staff, administrators and community stakeholders
• Commitment to a team approach for problem-solving and conflict resolution
