About the Professor - Plumbing Apprenticeship/Plumbing Techniques Role:





The successful candidate will be required to teach courses in the Plumbing Apprenticeship and Plumbing Techniques, and/or other programs at the North campus. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: curriculum development; lesson planning; assessing student progress and achievement; and class management.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member in a culturally diverse environment. The successful candidate will encourage student learning and have a desire to share your technical knowledge; be expected to play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: classroom management and evaluation; use of Humber's LMS system - Blackboard, designing and developing courses and labs. The candidate will be expected to further develop community partnerships, as well as participate on Humber Polytechnic/Departmental committees and advance college initiatives. This individual will also contribute to the overall direction of the program, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the program, and developing and maintaining strong industry ties.

The incumbent will teach, develop curriculum, design/revise specific courses, create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students, assess student progress and achievement, work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in committees and related associations.


The incumbent will also support student advising, student recruitment, graduate placement, assist with the promotion and marketing of programs and develop and maintain strong industry ties.

Education




Red Seal Plumbing Journeyperson Qualification, 306A A minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience A minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience in the plumbing field G3 Gas fitters Certification

Experience/Skills





Industry acumen and experience is required, demonstrated ability to teach a number of courses offered by the college, along with specialized skills in the following areas:


Thorough understanding of contemporary low rise/ hi rise and ICI industry standards Knowledge of current OBC regulations with particular reference to part 7 Strong math skills Thorough understanding of drawing methods with specific reference to plan (blueprint) and isometric Microsoft 365 programs literacy (PowerPoint, Teams, Word, Excel) Autocad literacy 2-D and 3-D Trade associations (ie OPIA)

In addition, the successful candidate will have engaging and effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, demonstrated experience managing classroom dynamics, strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles, a student focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change.

The successful candidate will possess well developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery.
