Job Description


Job purpose The Professional Standards Administrator supports the professional and ethical practices of OREB?s REALTOR? members through the enforcement of the rules and policies outlined in the Board?s Bylaws, MLS? Rules & Regulations, the REALTOR? Code and CREA?s Trademark policies. The Administrator supports the staff of the Professional Practice Department by assisting with the direction to consumers and REALTORS? about their concerns and complaints. The Administrator supports the Professional Standards Coordinator with OREB Committees tasks and their processes. The Professional Standards Administrator assists the Compliance Administrator with the monitoring of the Listing Data Checker system and audit processes. Duties and responsibilities Major responsibilities

  • Receives consumer and REALTOR? complaints, provides administrative support to ensure issues are escalated to the appropriate level if necessary.
  • Supports the Professional Standards Coordinator with the enforcement of the Board?s rules, the REALTOR? Code, and CREA?s Trademark Policy through oversight of Professional Standards, and Discipline processes and procedures.
  • In collaboration with the Manager, Professional Standards Coordinator and Compliance Administrator, prepares meeting materials and corresponds with Member REALTORS? and consumers.
  • Assists with research interviews and the writing of research reports for review by the Professional Standards Committee.
  • Maintains an organized file management system of all complaints, investigations, and outcomes using a paperless filing system.
  • Provides support to the Compliance Administrator with the monitoring of the Listing Data Checker system and audit process. Acts as backup for Compliance Administrator.
  • Attends OREB events and meetings as required.

Knowledge & experience
  • 2-5 years of professional knowledge gathered through experience in the legal profession or real estate profession complemented by related educational qualifications.
  • Knowledge of principles of natural justice and procedural fairness.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and experience with database management.
Decision making Decisions are aligned with position responsibilities, boundaries and organizational policies and practices. Strong organizational parameters are in place to direct operational decisions. Working conditions Normal office environment. No unusual hazards. Generally deals in routine conversations and interactions. Potential for confrontational atmosphere. Physical requirements This job requires a mix of sitting, standing and moving, with a balance between computer-based work and verbal communication. Physical effort is low intensity more than 2 hours per day. Mental requirements This job requires a balance between computer-based work and verbal communication. The candidate is regularly required to balance priorities between different stakeholders. Mental effort is moderate intensity including extended screen time, data entry and generally dealing with routine conversations and interactions. Potential for confrontational atmosphere.
