The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.About the OpportunityReporting to the Manager of Interprofessional Practice, the Professional Practice Coordinator works with members of the individual disciplines, operational leadership, staff and practice councils to create an environment for person and family centered health and collaborative inter-professional teams, through the advancement of health discipline best practice. The Professional Practice Coordinator is an IPPL team member who supports discipline specific practice across programs and services, and who facilitates optimal scopes of practice and an integrated interprofessional practice model. The Professional Practice Coordinator facilitates learning that builds capacity, supports and advances professional practice and maintains and develops evidence-based standards of care. The Professional Practice Coordinator acts as a consultant to operational leadership and staff related to the application of relevant legislation, professional credentialing, standards of practice and issues related to professional practice and accountability. This role will support Occupational Therapy within Rehabilitation and Supportive Care.Please note this position requires periodic travel to facilities within Central Zone. Access to reliable transportation is required.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy or Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy required
  • Licensure and membership in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia required
  • Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist, and two (2) years clinical experience with related leadership skills required
  • Diploma or certificate in adult education or equivalent (or willing to obtain) required
  • Recent professional development relevant to maintaining competency in clinical practice and education
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with others and strong leadership skills
  • Experience in initiating and managing projects
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous teaching experience which involves designing, implementing and evaluating both traditional and nontraditional methods of instruction preferred
  • Strong problem solving skills and clinical reasoning skills
  • Sound judgment, common sense, flexibility & compassion
  • Ability to manage stressful situations, conflict and competing demands
  • Coaching ability and diplomacy when dealing with co-workers and persons in the community
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, colleagues, management, community agencies, academic settings, students and volunteers
  • Experience with computer applications - Microsoft office applications, Skype for business, SharePoint
  • Skills and experience in promoting learning cultures that nurture equity, diversity and inclusivity with a focus on intersectional values, analysis, and actions, clinical humility, and the responsible use of power and privilege
  • Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset
