Applications are currently being accepted for a Full Time Professional Practice and Education Coordinator position for South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
The Professional Practice and Education Coordinator will foster a culture of quality and patient safety; champion evidence based practice, and strengthen structures or processes to promote excellence in inter-professional practice. This position is pivotal to supporting the practice of all regulated health professionals within the organization. This position will lead and support best practice and evidence based care at SBGHC through education planning and implementation, participation in strategic and quality improvement planning as it relates to professional practice, and will work closely with internal and external partners to ensure success. They will collaborate with physicians and staff to define and advance the professional roles and full scope of practice for regulated health professionals, as well as play an integral role in the development, implementation and ongoing utilization of clinical information system.
As a leader within the organization, the Coordinator will be accountable for contributing to the delivery of the organization's strategic directions, corporate priorities, quality improvement plan, accreditation standards, and optimizing patient outcomes. They will consistently demonstrate an awareness and promotion of staff satisfaction and patient/family centered engagement and care. The coordinator will support ongoing efforts to improve efficiencies and reduce waste in our processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of clinical education program (including orientation, skills day, variety of educational programs).
Employ principles of adult learning to analyze gaps, planning, development and implementation of education and/or training to staff and providers.
Provide leadership to nurse leaders and leads amongst all regulated health professionals.
Collaborate with clinical leaders to develop, implement, and monitor learning plans for staff and professional staff when needed.
Internal and external scan of new guidelines and required organizational practice that will need to be incorporated into practice.
Evaluate new processes/guidelines.
Interpret data to support adoption of electronic records and other projects, in collaboration with the team.
Responsible for management of projects that support implementation or evaluation of best practices in relation to professional practice.
Develop or collaborate on policies, procedures, and guidelines associated with or demonstrating components of professional practice.
Lead, support or participate in key activities/change ideas or action plans to support best practice.
Active member of applicable team/unit/department meetings and huddles; chairs Professional Practice Committee.
Administration of assigned software applications, including maintaining user access and system reports.
Lead, support or participate in key clinical funded programs (Clinical Scholar, Nursing Extern Program, government funded educational opportunities).
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
BSc Nursing with a graduate degree in a relevant field preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years direct clinical experience in health care.
Hospital experience preferred.
Demonstrated leadership ability, collaborator and team-builder.
Demonstrated knowledge and application of adult learning principles.
A demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuing education.
Ability to maintain confidentially, discretion and tact.
Project Management experience an asset.
Must communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Must be able to work with Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel and Outlook) to be tested.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, sound judgments, analytical thinking and initiative; able to set and adjust priorities.
Must be able to travel to other sites and maintain a flexible work schedule, to meet organizational needs and priorities.
Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record.
