Production Support Representative - Press Programmer (GRD)
The GRD Press Programmer's primary function is to process and program orders for the lasers, CNC, and automated panel benders using a variety of software specific to each brand of machine. They strive to ensure that timely work is made available to the Press team while endeavoring to ensure workloads are evenly distributed between all the stations. They have a responsibility to reduce scrap by optimizing sheet layouts to minimize scrap percentages.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strive to attain a material utilization of at least 90%
Strive to ensure that programming KPIs are met and / or sustained (On Time, Quality, Productivity, Continuous Improvement)
Be flexible to work with a schedule that will change as the day progresses
Troubleshoot issues, determine root causes, and correct as required
Work cohesively with team members, the direct Supervisor, and all internal customers.
Interpretation of technical drawings
Consideration of tooling used to cut certain materials, speed of cut or adding features (for example - embossing)
Program applicable cutting and panel bending stations in the Press department
Cross train on multiple cutting stations to ensure adequate backup/coverage throughout the Programming team
Troubleshoot and correct programming issues
Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives with a goal of improving processes and increasing accuracy within the team.
Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
Minimum grade 12 education
Post-Secondary Education preferred (technical)
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Ability to read manufacturing drawings
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Problem solving abilities
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
High attention to detail
Ability to multitask
Ability to prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
