Production Working Supervisor

The primary responsibility of the Production Working Supervisor is to exceed customer delivery and quality expectations through the maximization of productivity. This position provides and manages the resources required to achieve the customer's request date, at or below standard production cost. Ensures the technological resources are properly maintained and safely operated at maximum efficiency and productivity levels, and that the human resources are properly trained, developed, motivated and focused on achieving efficiency and productivity levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



1. Responsible for 15+ production associates

2. Applies the resources required to achieve the customer request date through work assignment. Assigns work to specific individuals, with specific progress expectations to be completed within a specific time frame, ensuring that each employee has all the information, resources and the training required to perform the work assignment.

3. Each area Supervisor is responsible for follow-up to ensure the work assignment schedule is being achieved and providing direction in overcoming obstacles. Provides leadership and motivates employees to achieve the highest standards and compliance with SPIROL policies and procedures.

4. Ultimately responsible for the quality of product, documentation and productivity of the area. Ensures daily production information is loaded into the database for the accuracy of production reports.

5. Ensures that product is delivered to Finished Goods on time through the active monitoring of production reports, application of resources through work assignments, and takes the required action to overcome obstacles to achieving the customer request dates. Communicates all issues relative to the production schedule to the Planner.

6. Reviews and tracks production related variance, SPC data (where applicable), and promotes continuous improvement by developing and implementing approved improvements to the process which will result in reduced costs and improved quality and productivity.

7. Identify root cause and provide solutions in the CAR process. Actively participates to drive quality improvement programs such as 7 D's and implements corrective actions.

8. Implements and monitors a Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure production equipment is in peak running condition and eliminate unplanned down time.

9. Ensures that area processes conform to safety and environmental requirements. Pro-actively addresses all potential safety or environmental hazards and reports all issues out of his/her control to the appropriate individual for resolution.

10. Actively participates as a member of the Production Team in resolving issues related to customer request dates.

11. Administers SPIROL's Human Resources policies consistently. Responsible for the selection, termination, discipline, training and timely performance appraisals for all employees under his/her supervision.

12. Keeps management informed of issues and progress, particularly as it relates to needed changes in schedules on resources. This communication includes but is not limited to the submission of monthly activity reports pertaining to all areas of responsibility. Elevates all issues beyond the scope of the authority to a higher level of management.

13. Performs all processes in accordance with established policies and procedures.

14. Promotes continuous improvement by taking the initiative to identify issues and provide solutions with the goal of reducing cost and improving performance.

15. Establish, monitor, and make positive contributions to environmental objectives, targets, and programs for the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System.

16. Ensure employees are trained to minimize impact of their work on the environment.

AUTHORITY:



1. To shut down equipment that is not performing within capabilities.

2. To bring to Manager's notice products which do not conform to specification.

3. The Supervisor has the authority to stop shipment and stop production to correct quality problems, and identify their Manager immediately, if necessary.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:



1. High ratings in annual Customer Satisfaction Survey as it relates to quality and on-time delivery. Continuous improvement to achieve 100% on time delivery.

2. Continuous improvement in productivity through:

Continuous reduction in accidents.

Improved quality.

Reduced set-up time.

More efficient work area or plan lay-out.

Accomplishing production at or below standard cost. Elimination of production variances.

Continuous reduction of unplanned down time.

Tool management.

3. Employee training plans and performance appraisals are completed on time and in conformance to policies and procedures.

4. Works cooperatively with Trainer(s) to aid in the continuous development of employees.

5. Timely submission of monthly activity reports.

6. Performance reviews are conducted on time and disciplinary actions are carried out as appropriate and documented as required.

7. Submittal of budget and operating plan on schedule and maintains department expenditures within budget.

8. Department conformance to process and function policies and procedures as determined through the internal audit process.

9. Unexcused or unreported absenteeism not to exceed 2% of total hours worked.

10. Complies with all safety and EHS regulations.

11. Continuous Improvement/Waste Reduction evidence must be provided for inclusion in the formal performance evaluation.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS - Production Supervisors:



1. Should possess at least 1-3 years or more supervisory experience within a production/manufacturing environment.

2. Three to five years prior supervisory experience with SPC, QS, or ISO, and Continuous Improvement Programs.

3. Strong mechanical, mathematical and analytical aptitude.

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

5. Conflict resolution management and time management skills.

6. Must have a high level of drive and dedication and the ability to motivate a team of production workers

7. Leadership, decisiveness, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple functions to meet required deadlines.

8. Ability to seek a team approach, along with giving guidance and direction as required.

9. Excellent interpersonal skills.

10. Proficient in a windows based environment.

11. Forklift experience an asset.
