Shifts: Monday to Friday, Morning Shift (9 am to 5.30 pm)
Summary
Directs, coordinates the activities concerned with the daily processing of products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff.
Accountabilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Directs personnel to execute established processing and packaging procedures with CFIA and /or food safety and quality management system standards
Recommends and implements methods and procedures designed to eliminate potential problems
Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to maintain a safe working environment.
Conducts hearings to resolve or effect settlement of complaints and/or grievances and refers unresolved grievances.
Ensures Food Safety and Quality Management System procedures, policies and GMPs are being followed by employees.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise a total of approximately 20-30 employees along functional lines. Responsible for the coordination of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, and training employees; assigning, and directing work; appraising performance ; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes provisions to cover for the absences of subordinate staff
Education and/or Experience
College diploma in Food Science Management and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related Skills
Ability to read technical procedures. Ability to write routine reports and procedures.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff .
Mathematical skills including the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions .
Ability to work with technically advanced equipment and be mechanically inclined.
Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Knowledge of software including production, order processing systems spreadsheet and word processing.
Language
English.
Effort
This job does require physical effort thru constantly being on your feet. Mental effort and concentration required during training and set up of technical equipment and dealing with on floor staff ,equipment or product problems.
Working Conditions
Physical Environment:
Normal office environment with exposure to plant conditions including noise, a variety of temperatures , exposure to water, hot product. Constant interruptions; occasionally required to work outside normal plant hours.
