Our new Delta location is currently seeking Night Production Supervisor to join our growing Western team.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Leadership



Ensure personal and team compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards for people safety, food safety, quality, cost control, waste reduction and complete and on-time delivery Understand, promote, follow and ensure team compliance for all company and regulatory standards including, but not limited to, Provincial Employment Standards and Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS), Food Safety (GMP/SQF), Safe Operating Procedures (SOP's), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Report all safety concerns to a member of your Joint Health and Safety Committee and your Supervisor/Manager and participate in JHSC initiatives and follow established policies as outlined in the Health and Safety policies. Provide leadership for employee relations through effective and consistent communications, coaching, training, and development and evaluation of employee performance for your team Establish training needs of team and implement employee training to ensure they have required competencies to carry out their job responsibilities Ensure the effectiveness of team members through strategic hiring and effective assignment of duties, setting of priorities, delegation of work, discipline, and dismissal Develop strategic performance goals, metrics, and targets for your team that are consistent with company goals Ensure that all staff under your direction are equipped with and are using the proper personal protective equipment as required Flexible & open to work Weekends and Overtime work as required.

Production



Attend and hold daily meetings with other departments to review and resolve things including, but not limited to, production, health and safety, and quality-related issues Check inventory level to meet production schedule and communicate if any issues arise to Production Manager/Plant Manager Generate workers schedule based on sales forecast, plant capacity and material availability. Ensure that production operators monitor and document production parameters on a regular basis, compare them to established standards and proactively report variances to their direct supervisor. Actively be involved in reviewing and updating SOPs, SSOPs and production forms. Supervise production staff and keep documentation of supervisory activities as needed for employee records; this includes but is not limited to documentation of situations needing conflict resolution, progressive discipline and enforcement of all company and regulatory policies and procedures. Assume responsibility for on-going decision making to ensure efficiency and consistency. Oversee output of your team, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards, production schedules and customer needs, including participation in interdepartmental benchmarking. Maintain current understanding of all functions in the plant including warehouse, quality standards and maintenance department. Help to develop and implement performance metrics for your team and targets that are consistent with company goals; Ensure your team has clear goals and are fully aware of expectations. Collect and maintain documentation of all processes / procedures, ensuring that all production forms are filled out properly and verified. Develop and compose standard operating procedures (SOPs) to meet HACCP, KOSHER, Food Safety, and Quality Assurance standards and regulations. Maintain an effective quality system for the prevention of substandard quality; identify and reduce costs resulting from poor quality; anticipate problem areas and take necessary steps to circumvent these problems. Cultivate a Continuous Quality Improvement mentality on the floor to yield better processes, reduced waste, and increased machine utilization. Lead and assist in new product launches. Ensure company assets are maintained appropriately to maximize asset life and lower asset life cost. Implement a continuous improvement in all areas of operation. Track all cleaning activities on the Master schedule. Follows all sanitation procedures and work instructions Manage and be part of CIP/cleaning and production process. Maintain inventory of disinfectant and other cleaning supplies and keep documentation of cleaning schedule

People Development



Commit to and motivate employees to go above and beyond minimum compliance to ensure safety, food safety and quality, assume ownership and take appropriate action when violations are discovered Work effectively and collaboratively with all departments and production teams from other locations, as needed, to maintain consistent high standards of production processes, procedures, documentation and work company-wide Recruit and train production staff, establishing a highly motivated, flexible, quick- responding and quality work force Ensure the effectiveness of employees through strategic hiring, onboarding/training, assignment of duties, discipline, and dismissal. Coordinate team activities through effective scheduling, assignment of work, setting of priorities, and delegating of work

Other Job Duties



Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Production Manager/Plant Manager. In the event the Production Supervisor is absent, the Production Team Lead shall act as a backup. The Production Supervisor shall act as backup in the absence of the following functional positions: Production Manager and/or Plant Manager. Be actively involved in continuous improvement and aim for lean manufacturing, waste reduction and high efficiency

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



University degree, College degree or technical certificates preferably in food production Minimum 5 years production supervisory experience, preferably in the food industry Excellent interpersonal and communication skills built on a team-focused approach Good verbal and written English language skills Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Ability to work with a high degree of discretion and tact in handling confidential matters Ability to supervise, lead and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and balance conflicting priorities Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems Willingness and ability to collaborate with other departments in achieving company goals Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment Detail oriented and ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision. In-depth understanding of the production flow and appreciation of how one area and/or operations impacts another Thrives in a fast-paced work environment, and sets an example of professionalism for other employees. Warehouse and Forklift driving experience preferred First Aid Certification or willingness to get certification an asset. 2nd language other than English an asset. Ability to work with cleaning chemicals. Knowledge of ERP system is an asset. Ability to lift up to 25 Kilograms.

WORKING CONDITIONS



Permanent Full-time position (40 hours per week) Work is performed 30% in an office environment and 70% in production facility Exposure to noise, wet, hot, and cold temperatures varied environments when in the production area Interaction with employees, management, and the public at large Flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to meet business needs After-hours availability on emergency calls Wearing of company provided Uniform and other Personal Protective Equipment is required as applicable
