The Production Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and effective scheduling of workers to meet production targets and quality standards. Responsibilities will include the training of hourly team members in production methods, safety, policies and procedures, as well as the identification and correction of potential health and safety issues.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensuring shift production and staff schedules optimize plant resources and hit safety, customer quantity, quality and delivery targets.
Collaborating with team leaders, quality staff, maintenance and engineering on both day-to-day and longer-term problem solving to secure daily production targets and longer-term continuous improvements.
Participating on plant teams relating to engineering, safety, maintenance, training and quality for the optimal implementation of the Dana Operating System and continuous improvements, along with related record keeping and system revisions.
Training and coaching production staff in a unionized plant, ensuring that communications, staff involvement, and health & safety are top priorities.
Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; resolving problems; communicating shift results and production targets
Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with the OHSA and the responsibilities as defined under Section (27) of the OHSA and established company policies and procedures
Ensures machinery is operating efficiently and safely.
Works directly with Manufacturing Manager and other departments when necessary to ensure timely production, a quality part, and timely delivery in all areas.
Conduct accident investigations
Correct or commend Health and Safety Performance
Conduct Performance Appraisals for workers safety performance.
Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Requirements:
Several years progressively responsible manufacturing experience
Ability to use a variety of Microsoft computer programs
Post-secondary education in a related field
Success as a participant in continuous-improvement projects or teams
Strong analytical, problem-solving, inter-personal and communications skills
Leadership experience
