hands-on, working supervisor role
-- while leading the team, the Production Supervisor must also be willing and able to
jump in on the production floor when needed
to help meet quotas, balance workloads, and support operators. The Production Supervisor will work closely with engineering, quality, planning, and operations teams to ensure production goals are met on time and within budget.
This role may require overtime depending on production demand.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision
Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of production operators and lead hands.
Conduct regular
employee performance evaluations
to assess skills, set goals, and provide feedback for growth and development.
Lead by example as a
working supervisor
, stepping in on the production floor when required to assist with builds, troubleshoot issues, or support workload balancing.
Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Conduct daily team huddles to align priorities, communicate updates, and resolve issues.
Manage employee discipline when necessary
, ensuring fairness, consistency, and alignment with company policy.
Production Planning & Scheduling
Collaborate closely with the
Production Planner
to implement
production quotas and daily workload balancing

Manage daily/weekly production schedules to meet customer deadlines.
Prioritize workloads in a
low-volume, high-mix
environment with frequent changeovers.
Monitor progress against timelines and adjust resources as needed.
Process & Continuous Improvement
Implement and sustain
5S workplace organization
practices.
Support
Six Sigma and Lean initiatives
to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize processes.
Identify bottlenecks and lead root cause analysis for production issues.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure all products meet customer and industry standards.
Collaborate with Quality and Engineering to resolve non-conformances.
Support audits and inspections.
Systems & Reporting
Use
ERP/MRP and computer systems
for scheduling, tracking, and reporting production data.
Maintain accurate production records, including yields, scrap, and downtime.
Prepare reports on performance metrics and recommend improvements.
Safety & Training
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Serve as a
WHMIS Trainer
, ensuring employees are trained, refreshed, and compliant with
Regulation 860
and site-specific procedures.
Train and cross-train employees in production processes and best practices.
Ensure all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company standards are followed.
Qualifications
Required:
3+ years of experience in a
manufacturing supervisory role
, preferably in electrical components (transformers, inductors, coils, or related assemblies).
Strong understanding of
low-volume, high-mix production environments
.
Proven ability to manage
production schedules and quotas
effectively in partnership with planning.
Proficiency with
computer systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office
.
Knowledge of
ISO9001, AS9100D, and Controlled Goods compliance
(or similar standards)
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Assets:
Experience with
5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies
