To plan, direct and control process equipment and associates for the product family and to ensure approved products are manufactured in accordance with customer requirements and cost objectives in a compliant and safe manner.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the manufacturing process of designated area by driving operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, productivity and budget goals are achieved,
Maintain production schedule for assigned area, including estimating work hour requirements for completion of jobs and managing overtime hours. Report deviations to the operations manager and customer service while making recommendations to resolve problems and increase efficiency,
Maintain high level of visibility with associates. Use hands-on approach to communicate daily and involve associates in problem-solving,
Understand machine setup and operations within the value stream,
Evaluate departmental constraints and implement lean manufacturing techniques to improve capacities,
Work closely with team members across departments to establish priorities ensuring on-time shipments to customers, meeting quality expectation, and other activities as needed,
Actively encourage, promote and facilitate implementation of innovative solutions to ensure quality while delivering lower costs and shorter lead times in accordance with lean principles and practices,
Compile time and production records and fulfill value stream reporting requirements and communicate with stakeholders,
Approve employee payroll through ADP system,
Manage and schedule employee vacation time,
Drive fair and consistent application of policies across employee base,
Promote a quality-focused culture within the value stream team by providing training and coaching to improve standard work, work center organization (6S) and housekeeping,
Recommend capital investment in production equipment as appropriate,
Determine staffing requirements (full-time, seasonal, temporary, etc) and coordinate with human resources,
Establish system for development of cross-training, teaming activities, and continuous improvement programs. Including identifying training needs of staff and opportunities for development to maximize their potential,
Help associates succeed through performance management. Provide coaching and performance communication to support development,
Conduct Lead Hand / Team Leader meetings,
Participate in quote team meetings as needed,
Participate in continuous improvement events as assigned by operations manager,
Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are thoroughly investigated and resultant actions completed in a timely manner,
Other duties as assigned
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
Strong problem solving skills
Lean manufacturing experience an asset
Strong mechanical aptitude
Ability to train and share knowledge
Ability to read drawings
Comprehension of written documentation
Ability to multitask and prioritize
Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Strong computer knowledge; knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel essential
Strong teamwork and team building skills
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Post secondary education or equivalent job experience
REQUIRED TRAINING
All applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
