Summary:



Here we grow again! Blue Falls Manufacturing ("BFM") is currently on the search for one (1) full-time Production Supervisor to assist in leading its' Production team at our Winterburn facility in Edmonton, Alberta. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, analytical thinker who is collaborative in their leadership approach, and possesses a strong operational skill set. This role is a perfect fit for someone working their way up in their career to a more senior level, and who is looking to hone their managerial and leadership skills.

Work/life balance is key - Our team works Monday thru Friday, early start, early end, to ensure employees have their afternoons, evenings, and weekends for themselves. Having said this, during peak production season, there are opportunities for overtime and weekend shifts as operations demand.

BFM Winterburn has eleven (11) departments within production and over 40 staff on the floor; the Production Supervisor and Manager initially assign Production Assemblers to an area to start, and once proficient, move the individuals throughout the plant facility to ensure skills development through cross-training in additional areas. Duties:



Drive and promote organizational culture; cultivate and maintain a strong team dynamic and dedicated work ethic Support team members through encouragement, positive reinforcement, and accountability Coordinate personnel to ensure staffing supports work volume and requirements for continuous workflow for each area/department on the production floor Production Supervisors are responsible for identifying, selecting, training, and assigning team members to an appropriate area along the assembly line Continually assess and identify succession pathways for team members to grow within the organization, whether within production or other departments Assist with employee performance reviews at 3-month, 6-month, and 1-year intervals Assist with interviews and hiring as necessary Handle basic personnel concerns; escalate more complex personnel issues to HR and participate in the resolution process where appropriate Consistently evaluate production and workflow processes; recommend and implement changes as required to resolve bottlenecks and meet production scheduling Recommend measures to improve productivity, efficiency, and product quality Ensure weekly production targets are achieved Ensure production labor and overhead remains competitive Coordinate with Yard and Maintenance Departments to manage product waste Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards throughout the production process May assist in daily set up and/or shutdown of machines and equipment

Skills/Abilities:



Leadership skills: ability to train and mentor junior team members Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Able to don all appropriate/required PPE including respiratory gear Competent with various handheld tools and equipment, as well as power and air tools Physically fit with excellent mobility and manual dexterity Able to stand for sustained periods over an eight (8) hour period or longer Capable of performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment Ability to push/pull and/or lift up to 50-60lbs unassisted Flexibility to adjust personal schedule to accommodate overtime as needed Positive attitude; willingness to learn Excellent attendance and punctuality

Experience/Qualifications:



3-5 years' experience in the manufacturing industry required Prior work history providing supervisory oversight for assembly line operations and maintaining workflows required Some training or education in manufacturing operations, quality systems, business, or similar considered an asset Training in Lean manufacturing principles or working toward certification considered an asset

Work Environment:



Manufacturing plant setting Depending on work area, exposure to hot, humid, wet, cool/cold and/or breezy conditions May be exposed to chemicals/fumes, dust/particulates, and varying noise levels

Compensation:

Other:



Valid Driver's License and reliable personal transportation to commute to and from work and/or between manufacturing plant locations, occasionally Steel or composite-toed footwear required (bring/buy your own); all other essential PPE provided by BFM Please be advised that all supervisory team members are fit-tested for respiratory gear, no exceptions. Supervisory staff may be called upon to tend to any/all areas within the plant, at any time.
