Reports to Operations Manager

Summary



The Production Supervisor is responsible for the effective supervision of the manufacturing department staff and equipment to ensure that quality standards and productivity requirements are met. Responsibilities will include: the training of staff members in safe manufacturing methods and policies, as well as the identification and correction of potential work hazards, including health and safety issues. In the course of his/her duties, the Production Supervisor will prepare a range of reports and hold responsibilities for effective budgeting in his/her area. Through the effective management of the manufacturing staff, production goals and production efficiencies, the Production Supervisor will ensure the ongoing success of the shop floor. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Job Duties



Supervise the manufacturing shop workers. Provide leadership and supervision to all subordinate staff. Assist all subordinate staff on floor tasks (billable work) when time permits. Coordinate with engineering and quality control to resolve issues. Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, product quality, and safety standards. Provide guidance and direction to the production floor personnel. Accomplish manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures. Develop and maintain training programs in conjunction with the Operations Manager to ensure that all personnel have the necessary skills to perform their duties safely and productively Coordinate daily production floor activities and delegate assignments to production personnel. Communicate clear expectations to production personnel, keep them informed of matters pertaining to their job, and develop personal growth opportunities. Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities, when necessary, with other units. Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality. Monitor employee work performance relative to expectations and maintain material/workflow through the facility. Monitor and enforce safety policies. Always maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel. Ensure equipment and tools are in good working order and available for use when required. Ensure all stations are producing products to the company's quality standards. Continuously evaluate and modify the plant layout and material workflow for increased throughput and productivity. Coordinate cleanups where necessary. Attend and participate in regular production meetings. Work in a fast-paced environment with fast-changing priorities. Address conflicts of interest and provide solutions. Lead the production floor personnel and maintain a positive work atmosphere. Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Position report to and works closely with the Operations Manager. Uphold all ISO, API and OSHA standards applicable to the responsibilities above. Provide information for production plans to ensure that production objectives are met. Requisition materials and supplies. Recommend and take part in personnel decisions such as hiring and succession planning. Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety hazards. Other duties as required.

Requirements



Minimum 3 years' experience as a foreman lead in a manufacturing environment. Minimum of 3 years' experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Millwright or HET Red Seal Certification required.

Completion of college/vocational or technical training. Possess a valid driver's license. Proven mechanical abilities in an industrial environment. Ability to work independently. Experience with routine maintenance operations. Leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise subordinates. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite. Able to find new methods and principles and the ability to incorporate them into existing practices as needed. High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability. Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs. Must have strong project management skills. Must be able to push, pull and move equipment and/or supplies in excess of 50 pounds.

Work Conditions



Employees may be required to work in potentially hazardous environments requiring protective equipment. Employees may be exposed to dust, hazardous chemicals and high levels of noise. Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals. Overtime as required.
