ABOUT THE ROLE
The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the production process, from raw mix preparation through to cement silo management, while upholding quality and production targets, executing daily plans, and adhering to all safety and environmental procedures.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Serve as a safety role model, ensuring adherence to safety procedures through daily safety talks, FLRAs, inspections, and follow-up on safety actions.
  • Hold Process Operators accountable for schedules, performance, and adherence to operating parameters to achieve departmental objectives and plant targets.
  • Monitor production areas, detect malfunctions or abnormal conditions, and initiate or coordinate corrective actions as needed.
  • Assess breakdowns, determine urgency, and engage maintenance crews for timely resolution.
  • Oversee quality control activities and provide follow-up and feedback on ongoing process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of shift activities, including Shift Reports, work orders, and updates on repairs or corrective actions.
  • Ensure plant-wide security during off-hours, managing visitors, property movement, merchandise receipt, and access to stores.
  • Perform Level 2 First Aid, Incident Commander, and Emergency Response Team (ERT) Leader duties as required.
  • Review and execute instructions from the Production Coordinator, ensuring tasks are completed correctly and operating guidelines are consistently followed.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: College Diploma/University Degree
Field of Study Preferred: Engineering, Business or related degree
Required Work Experience: at least 5 years of supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing environment
Travel Requirements: 5%
Additional Requirements:
  • Good knowledge of all applicable safety and environmental laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of the principles of main cement manufacturing equipment (FK pump, pulse jet dust collectors, airslides, bucket elevators, belt conveyors, etc.) along with Cement production or similar continuous process operation
  • Problem solving methods and tools (Root Cause Failure Analysis, Risk Analysis).
  • Good knowledge of product quality parameters and of quality control (QC) test.
  • Ability to conduct sensory inspections of equipment to detect abnormal conditions.
  • Knowledge of lubrication principles and specificities for each equipment
  • Basic knowledge of electricity principles and instrumentation (Energy Isolation, basic troubleshooting skills and general awareness of arc flash and electrical hazards).
  • Ability to prioritize actions, make decisions and multitask effectively
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels (peers, managers and direct reports).
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
