As an Insulated Glass (IG) Applicator you will be responsible for inspecting and assembling the spacers and glass products and operating the application station and Press Machine to produce high quality IG units, ensuring they meet the required specifications for their planned applications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operate the assigned machines to assemble the glass and components in an accurate and efficient manner.
Set up and calibrate the assigned machines for accurate and efficient production.
Continuously monitor the assigned machines performance and the quality of the glass products being produced.
Make proactive adjustments, as needed, to the calibration and cleanliness of the assigned machines to ensure consistency and prevent defects.
Ensure safe and proper handling and assembly of glass panels and components; ensure glass pieces and spacers are not damaged during processing and assembly.
Carefully handle all spacers when moving them from its storage to the application station to ensure seamless production flow and to prevent defects.
Ensure the application process runs continuously, in the correct sequence, and at the correct pace to prevent production flow disruption.
Inspect all spacers to ensure the butyl is within specification, identified, and all seams are covered with butyl strip.
Inspect all glass to ensure it is clean and free of defects.
Perform and record the required quality standard tests in the required frequency.
Inspect finished Insulated Glass Units (IGUs) for quality; ensure components are meeting required thickness, alignment, primary seal integrity, and overall appearance standards periodically throughout shift to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Troubleshoot any issues with the equipment, per the Work Instructions (WIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Maintain accurate production logs, including machine settings, production quantities, and any quality control checklists or adjustments.
Notify management of any deviations in production quality, performance, or other roadblocks and implement corrective actions as directed.
Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and management to ensure seamless operations and timely production of IGUs.
Ensure all operations are performed in compliance with the SOPs, WIs, company safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working with machinery and glass products and components; encourage a culture of safety on the production floor.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, following housekeeping standards to promote safety and efficiency.
Comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies in all aspects of the job.
Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of manufacturing processes; specifically in IG production.
Good communication skills to interact with team members and management.
Experience with safety and quality standards in a manufacturing setting.
Ability to stand throughout the entire time on shift.
Ability to climb ladders, stairs, step stools, or similar apparatus at the start of each shift, and constantly throughout the shift.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs frequently and through entirety of shift.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks, in a continuous manner, in a fast-paced environment, including lifting and extending arms through entirety of shift.
