At dahl Valve, the Production Manager plays a key leadership role in driving daily manufacturing performance, efficiency, and culture. This individual oversees all production departments--including Machining, Assembly, and Automated Lines--ensuring operational goals are met or exceeded. The ideal candidate brings a growth mindset, strong floor presence, and proven success leading Lean, 5S, and cross-functional initiatives in a hands-on environment. This leader will actively eliminate bottlenecks, improve process discipline, and champion people development while aligning production with inventory, customer, and business priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Development
Build a high-performing, accountable, and safety-first team culture rooted in trust, clarity, and continuous feedback
Coach and mentor supervisors and frontline team members to strengthen leadership bench and develop skill-based progression paths
Execute performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and support development plans
Set clear daily, weekly, and monthly expectations across departments, ensuring alignment with plant goals
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Oversee daily production activities across Machining, Assembly, SMD, CNC, and Parts Wash areas
Drive throughput, OEE, and labor productivity while ensuring quality and delivery performance
Lead and sustain Lean Manufacturing, 5S, visual management, and waste reduction programs
Conduct root cause analysis and lead structured problem solving to eliminate repeat issues
Collaborate on capital planning, including equipment procurement and ROI justification
Cross-Functional Execution
Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Logistics to resolve constraints, align priorities, and maintain production flow
Support Process Development (PDT), Process Improvement (PIT), and Business Management System (BMS) initiatives
Lead or participate in FMEA for product, tooling, or equipment risk mitigation
Ensure SOPs, Work Instructions, and safety protocols are up-to-date and followed
Performance Management & Reporting
Track and report KPIs including output, quality, downtime, and labor efficiency
Identify trends, escalate issues, and implement corrective actions
Proactively manage departmental budgets, resource planning, and cost controls
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Engineering, Operations, Industrial Technology, or related field
10-15 years in progressive manufacturing roles, ideally in machining, hardware, or discrete manufacturing
Experience with Epicor is preferred
Demonstrated experience leading Lean and 5S programs with measurable results
Strong leadership presence, decision-making, and communication skills
ERP/MRP proficiency and working knowledge of Excel, Word, and data tools
Proven success in developing people and leading through change
