Location: Calgary
Wage: $18.80/hour
Shift: available to work any shift (flexibility with working overtime, and on weekends, as necessary)
Summary
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Team Leader will provide hands-on leadership on a production shift within the plant to ensure production schedules are met safely and on time all within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment
Primary Responsibilities

  • Understands and fulfills the duties of a leader of the following programs within the production area: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), All food safety programs, All health & safety programs, All policies, programs or procedures.
  • Conduct pre-shift huddles and provides feedback for the team.
  • Responsible for leading lead hands in addition to production crew on one or more production lines.
  • Ensures production schedules are met and deals with problems that may occur.
  • Co-ordinates the various department schedules, products and manpower to ensure that the production in the plant runs smoothly.
  • Checks to ensure that proper methods and procedures are being used and that quality, safety, environment standards are met.
  • Leads by example and fosters an environment of mutual respect and team work among Team Members.
  • Assists in all testing of new equipment, methods and or products, as well as trouble shoot processes and equipment inspections.
  • Assists Operations Manager in ensuring KPIs are met daily.
  • Assists with trouble shooting on all production related equipment (must have basic understanding of all equipment).
  • Ensure Product Quality and Product safety is being followed.
  • Responsible for various Quality checks on their line (CCP Verification, Metal detector checks, etc.).
  • Ensure Quality is being maintained on the line.
  • Assist with Line changeover.
  • Confirm the changeover has been done accurately (matches BOM Requirements).
  • Responsible for updating of Skills Matrix for their respective Line.
  • Ensuring team members are effectively following Break rotation schedule.
  • Provide Support to the team in dealing with performance/behavioral concerns with TMs on line.
  • Provide accurate feedback on the performance of TMs on respective Line to Operations Leaders.
  • Answers calls from various areas on the line - communicates with various departments on the radio.
  • Ensure Absences/Lates are reported. Review and address attendance concerns.
  • Complete Shift Report with required info collected (include details on line performance when required).
  • Works with Sanitation, Quality, Shipping and Maintenance teams to coordinate required activities.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable)
  • Must be a demonstrated leader who easily interacts with others and is adept at leading and motivating a team to meet demands established by the schedule
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills, along with simple mathematical abilities
  • Ability to manage difficult people and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexible to work days, afternoons, nights & weekends if needed
  • Working knowledge of GMP's, HACCP & O.H.S.A is required
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
