Our Team

Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.

The Long Harbour Technical Services team consists of a combination of Process Engineers, Technicians, and Analysts. The team is responsible for providing technical services support and guidance to the plant operation to optimize metal recoveries, production, product quality, plant efficiency, and throughput.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Production Engineering Student \xe2\x80\x93 Spring 2024 Semester to join our Long Harbour Operations in Long Harbour, NL. This is a 4 \xe2\x80\x93 month fixed term position. This position will be on a 4x10s schedule (Monday to Thursday OR Tuesday to Friday) working at the Long Harbour Operations site in Long Harbour, NL.

The successful candidate will assist the Production Engineering Team with a variety of tasks relating to Production Planning and eliminating or minimizing risk to any plant restrictions that arise. Additionally, in this position, you will:

• Utilize safe production tools and always exhibit behaviors of Safe Production
• Assist in Production Planning and Forecasting on a daily, monthly, and yearly outlook.
• Data collection, analysis, and reporting results to identify process improvement opportunities.
• Monitor plant performance to identify any deviations from KPI\xe2\x80\x99s (Key Performance Indicators)
• Lab analysis to determine optimal plant setpoints.

About You

Education:

• Currently enrolled as a student in an Engineering (Co-op) Program.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Ability to analyze data and effectively communicate results and recommendations to various groups within the organization.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven safety record is essential.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
• Flexible and adaptable mindset.
• Ability to create networks and relationships with stakeholders.
• Detail oriented.
