Job Description


The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will work as part of an area-based team for the thermal business area which is comprised of other disciplines such as Exploitation, Reservoir, Exploration, Facilities, Pipelines and Field Operations. As a Production Engineer you will work with members of a multidisciplinary team to meet the production and financial targets for a producing area as well as participate in the planning, sanctioning and execution of development programs. The thermal business area competes strongly for development, re-development and strategic workovers and is set to remain a high impact, high activity area for the organization.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work directly with operations to execute on depletion strategies to maximize the value of the asset
  • Daily surveillance and troubleshooting of operating Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) and Steam Flood (SF) wells to ensure safe, reliable, compliant and cost effective operations
  • Identify and propose opportunities to optimize production and reduce operating costs
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor well and formation integrity programs
  • Evaluate, recommend, plan and execute on well work overs
  • Participate in the planning of new development phases

  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 5x2 - Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
  • Travel to field to interact with Operations, Facility and Well Servicing personnel, as required

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Chemical, Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering Degree and P. Eng. Designation in Alberta
  • 3+ years of related experience in thermal production operations with demonstrated knowledge of thermal processes, oil treating and steam generation
  • In-depth understanding of artificial lift systems, specifically rod pumping systems preferred
  • Familiarity with artificial lift and thermal well design programs such as SROD, Rod Star, TWBS is highly desirable
  • Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license or equivalent
