The Production Packer reports to the Supervisor on site and Manager of Contract Filling & Packaging and is responsible for the daily assembling and packaging of product.
Job Duties/Tasks
Production & Assembly Duties
Assemble and package products according to specifications
Construct boxes from flat cardboard stock
Count and package rice hulls from the bagging machine into boxes for shipment
Load packaged products onto pallets and shrink wrap for transport
Ensure product orders are complete by counting finished goods
Load and unload trailers with raw materials and finished products, manually or with hoists
Rotate through various tasks within the production process as required
Fill the hopper with rice hulls to maintain consistent machine operation
Meet daily production targets by working at optimal efficiency
Perform basic machine start-up, shut-down, and cleaning procedures
Support production in other departments based on workflow and operational needs
Operate walkie stacker and complete daily equipment safety checklists
Packaging & Materials Handling
Use shrink wrap, tape, staples, snaps, and other fasteners to securely package products
Load finished goods onto skids and prepare for shipment
Maintain inventory of supplies within the workspace by monitoring stock levels and anticipating needs
Conserve resources by using equipment and materials efficiently
Quality Control
Conduct quality checks on products and components
Identify and report defective raw materials or finished products
Notify the on-site Supervisor and the Manager of Contract Filling & Packaging of any issues related to quality, processes, equipment, or materials
Health, Safety & Compliance
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Wear all required personal protective equipment (P.P.E.)
Ensure equipment is clean and in good working condition
Monitor machinery for malfunctions and report concerns promptly
Immediately report any unsafe or hazardous conditions to a supervisor
Follow all ImagineAbility policies and procedures at all times
Report any suspected abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, financial, or neglect) in accordance with ImagineAbility's Vulnerable Person Abuse Policy
Requirements, Skills and Competencies
Familiarity with pneumatic tools and basic electrical systems
Proficient in fundamental mathematical calculations
Forklift operation experience considered an asset
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of interacting effectively with customers, suppliers, drivers, and tradespeople via phone, email, and in person
Demonstrates speed and accuracy in completing tasks, especially repetitive work
Capable of following established procedures and protocols
Effective problem-solving skills and resourcefulness
Treats colleagues and management with professionalism and respect
Dependable and consistently punctual
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Basic supervisory skills; leadership experience is considered an asset
Clear Criminal Record(Vulnerable Sector) Certificate(Winnipeg Police) and Child and Adult Registry Checks.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Warehouse - in person
Monday to Friday - eight (8) hours per day 7:50 am -4:20 pm
Standing for prolonged periods of time.
Lifting materials up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting.
Manual dexterity.
Good eyesight, with or without corrective lenses.
Eye-hand coordination
Ability to communicate in English
