Role Summary

The Area Leader is responsible to support the Team Members in the performance of their duties focusing on safety, people, quality, productivity and all company/regulatory policies, standardized work and procedures.

**The successful candidate for this role will work at our new Magna Structures Heart Lake facility located in Brampton, ON**

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads and schedules the activities of team members
  • Develops Team Members through coaching and mentoring
  • Promotes principles of PIC and SPQP
  • Facilitates daily shift meetings and communicates team talks
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications with all Departments
  • Participates in manpower planning and recruiting
  • Promotes accountability by providing formal and informal performance feedback to Team Members which includes Performance Appraisals
  • Monitors, tracks and improves upon key indicators.
  • Provides training to new and transferring Team Members as per the training matrix including cross training to maximize flexibility supporting SPQP
  • Leads Team Members in accordance with the principles of the Magna Employee\'s Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the Company Handbook and Company Credo
  • Manages departmental labour, maximizing resources to meet established objectives in accordance with an approved manpower plan
  • Plans and directs the efficient utilization of all equipment and manpower
  • Knows and understand process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to this job function
  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as Outlined in the Team Member Handbook, Quality and Environmental Programs (i.e. TS16949, ISO14001)
  • Understands, promotes and lives by Magna\'s philosophies and the Employee\'s Charter
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Ensure Team Members adhere to the requirements of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and the regulations
  • Advise Team Members of any potential hazards and/or provide written instructions as to the measures to protect the Team Member
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a Team Member and report any known contravention out of their control to the Steering Team
  • Conducts accident / incident investigations implementing corrective actions
  • Conducts monthly safety inspections and implements corrective actions
  • Corrects unsafe acts or conditions
  • Corrects or commends health & safety performance
  • Conducts safety talks
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Minimum two years leadership experience in manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficient in computer use
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
