About Us

In business for over 50 years, Ocean Steel's Rebar Division cuts, bends and installs reinforcing

steel for poured-in-placed concrete work. Ocean Steel Rebar's plant capacity is currently 10,000+ tons. Their estimating, detailing, shop scheduling, tagging and shipping is performed using a computerized production management system. Rebar is detailed using the latest CAD technology offered by Bentley Microstation/ASA to CSA, CRSI and ASTM specifications. Rebar is installed using in-house or subcontracted crews depending on the project requirements.

Job Summary

The Production Administrator is responsible for data entry of all production information into our internal database system and maintaining and managing file records. The Production Administrator works hand in hand with production and operations to ensure effective clerical support. This position requires experience in computer applications and online document management. Exceptional time management and communication skills are critical as the ideal candidate must be able to multi-task, learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Invoicing daily orders, proofing, finalizing orders, updating daily order log, and maintaining our electronic filing system
  • Printing Production Pre-post reports, checking and posting at the end of each day
  • Saving batch reports in appropriate electronic filing systems
  • Exporting pdf data, sorting, and adding/ maintaining railcar bundles in Excel
  • Maintaining our electronic Mill Test Certificate database
  • Preparing and printing shipping documents to the shop when required
  • Using One World to add inventory and load onto shipping bills: saving shipping bills in appropriate electronic job filing system
Technical Requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills coupled with proven ability to work well in an extremely fast-paced and deadline driven environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple and changing priorities without sacrificing deadlines
  • Detail-oriented coupled with proven sense of urgency
  • Organized self-starter who works effectively with minimal supervision and a high level of accountability
Cultural Requirements
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) with management and peers
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work both collaborative and independently when necessary
