At SMS Equipment, our Product Support Sales Representative \xe2\x80\x93 Construction, is responsible for growing and maintaining the SMS customer base, product sales and profitability through the sale of OEM and after market products and the sale of support services in sales territory as assigned by the company. The Product Support Sales Representative \xe2\x80\x93 Construction will support sales activities through specialized technical or scientific knowledge and product applications. This position is in Kamloops, BC.

The salary for this position is $48,000 plus commission.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Follow the SMS sales process with a strong focus on attaining targets.
  • Develop annual sales plans in conjunction with Supervisor.
  • Provide weekly status updates on sales plans and actions.
  • Gather business intelligence by continuously collecting information about customers and potential customers.
  • Establish and maintain long-term professional relationships with all contacts including customers, suppliers, and branch personnel.
  • Coordinate weekly activities with Operations Manager and respective Branch Parts and Service Managers.
  • Actively participate in Branch meetings.
  • Take an active role in customer JoiFul meetings and communicating minutes from these meetings to other management within the Company to improve overall customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain all records and paperwork including customer contacts, call reports, quotation etc.
  • Sell company products, services and support programs ensuring business retention, opening new accounts while preserving the best profitability for the company.
  • Conduct follow up calls and customer visits on new machine deliveries following the delivery of the machine.
  • Develop and deliver training courses on products to maintain and improve sales performance.
  • Solve technical problems and generates customer solutions.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a strong sales, service or engineering background with preference given to a minimum of 3 years experience within the construction, mining or industrial industry. Other requirements include:
  • Experience in the heavy equipment industry and a familiarity with heavy equipment is required.
  • Ability to operate in a diverse environment with a significant focus on client and customer relations is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills with both customers and manufacturers.
  • Good computer skills and can demonstrate proficiency in software applications.
  • Ambitious and continually seeking to acquire new technology and knowledge pertaining to SMS products, services and processes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make intelligent decisions.
  • Possess good judgement, initiative, good job attitude and be dependable, innovative and creative.
