Product Owner, Geospatial Solutions

Reporting to the Manager, Geospatial Solutions, the Product Owner is responsible for engaging with Team members, and collaborating across operations, project teams, and external service providers, to support the design, development, and delivery of technical solutions. The incumbent will apply proven analytical and critical thinking skills to help capture, document, and validate business and technical requirements and support solution design and program delivery. The Product Owner contributes to the continuous improvement of data acquisition, storage, management, interpretation, and presentation, to enhance value through business capability and value stream alignment.

This role will contribute to the advancement of platforms, products and practices within key areas including Geospatial, Geoscience, Drones/UAV\'s, Digital Twins and Advanced Visualization. Responsibilities

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

Work with Manager and extended Team members to best apply toolsets and applications to develop integrated solutions that drive digital transformation at Teck

Take part in the administration and management of Team projects including coordinating meetings, workshops, generating progress reports and maintaining regular communication channels

Work closely with key collaborators to prioritize requirements and communicate different messages effectively to different audiences

Perform needs analysis based on business requirements and ensure solutions proposed by Geospatial Solutions meet the organizational and business goals

Translate diverse needs related to differing stages of the mining business into recommended approaches for improving workflows, productivity, and collaboration

Assist in the implementation of groundbreaking technology solutions in a cost-effective method by identifying requirements of a project or program and communicating them to partners

Embrace creative and innovative ways to contribute by identifying alternative methods of approaching work and improving efficiencies

Seek out and guide on trends in emerging technologies and standard methodologies in digital transformation and makes recommendations on beneficial initiatives

Build a culture of teamwork across all constituents and collaborators and encourages cooperation and open communication

Research materials and completes assignments under minimal supervision and direction

Develop use cases, product value and proof-of-concept for addressing business improvement initiatives

Work to ensure all Team platform and products align with Operational needs

Communicate delivery solutions effectively to key stakeholders and the Geospatial Solutions Team

Ensure customer focused design considering user input & usability test results, while using market & industry knowledge to deliver a well-positioned product

Qualifications

Bachelor in Earth Sciences, Engineering or Geoscience domain and/or specialized certification in GIS, or proven work experience in these fields

Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical role at an advanced level

Strong understanding of Agile project key principles

Knowledge of mining, geoscience, and GIS applications

Knowledge of drone operation and capabilities

Knowledge of digital transformation trends and practices within the mining domain

Strong statistical and data interpretation skills

Excellent planning and execution skills

Excellent communication (written and verbal), facilitation and experience working with a broad range of people

Results oriented with excellent organizational, planning, program management and decision-making skills

Demonstrated ability to work independently

Ability to troubleshoot and prioritize projects and on-time deliverables

Ability to conduct work activities safely in accordance with safety guidelines and policies

Ability to work comfortably with a high degree of autonomy in an environment of fast-paced change and a highly distributed team

Working-level Spanish would be an asset

Ability to travel from time to time as needed
