We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer in our Engineering department at our Ayr, Ontario location.
Primary responsibilities/accountabilities:
Assist Product Managers and prototype department on day to day build activities and provide technical support to tooling/gauge builds
Conduct product development research using knowledge of thermodynamics & fluid mechanics
Research the feasibility, design, operation & performance of mechanisms, components, systems
Set up and lead cross functional feasibility meeting
Interface with manufacturing locations and current/prospective US automotive customers
Apply knowledge of designing and GD & T, possibly CAD and Solidworks in order to create concept sketches and initial drawings of new products
Identify opportunities for growth and product development
Coordination of engineering print review to ensure the latest releases are available
Creation of engineering change documents (EN's) for review for newly released prints to samples and/or production.
Prepare quote sheets, BOM, and Internal Cost Breakdown sheet
Complete endform development to prototype stage, including RFQ, assigning TD numbers, and first-off and cap study
Create Analysis Development Validation Plans and Reports
Assist with other project related activities as assigned
Qualifications (education & skills required):
Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering
Automotive Manufacturing experience and hands-on knowledge of ISO/IATF16949 requirements is essential
In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
Ability to analyze blueprint specifications using GD & T
Basic knowledge of CAD systems, preferably Solidworks
Excellent analytical skills with a strong sense of urgency
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Capable of working in a high-pressure environment
