JOB SUMMARY



Reporting to the R&D Director, as a Product Development Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing products from A to Z across our multiple categories. Your responsibilities will include market research, regulatory research, design, testing and preparing the technical documentation required for sales. Our goal: to deliver the right product, on time, at the right price, that meets customer needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Project Management:



Collaborate with the marketing team to write specifications and identify the standards to be met in assigned projects. Plan, monitor and respect project deadlines and budgets. Prepare and present progress reports on mandates to the department director.

Development of adapted products:



Market Analysis:

Analyze the market to understand customer needs.

Product Design:

Design products in SolidWorks according to customer needs, existing patents, and regulatory requirements, optimizing parts, costs, and the quality of the final product.

Material choice:

Choose appropriate materials based on technical requirements (e.g. steel, aluminum, plastic, etc.).

Prototype Manufacturing:

Oversee the manufacture of prototypes, perform load tests and regulatory compliance tests on designed products.

First production monitoring:

Ensure the follow-up of the first productions to guarantee a product that complies with the requirements, in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders.

Documentation:

Create and maintain documentation relating to the products developed.

Training:

Lead training sessions on new products. Any other related duties established by his superior.

REQUIREMENTS, QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED



Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering; Member of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ) If you are not a member of the OIQ, the position title will be

Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in product development in a related industry; Experience in the manufacturing sector; Fluency in French and English, both oral and written; Analytical and business acumen (use of standard parts and cost optimization); Resourceful and creative; Committed and passionate; Thoroughness and attention to detail; Results-oriented and focused on delivering on mandates; Organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines; Communication of the right information at the right time; Autonomy and team spirit; Ability to learn, curiosity; Proficiency in SolidWorks or Catia computer-aided design software; Knowledge of the Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
