About the Role
Responsible for designing, engineering and developing vehicle interior products (seat components, head restraints, arm restraints and guide sleeves) from concept to production. Responsible for ensuring product meets regulatory and customer specific requirements at all stages of the design and development process. Will be in direct contact with customers, suppliers and testing facilities throughout the design development process to ensure a flawless production launch.
Job Duties:
Directly communicate with customers to present and explain design proposals, reports, and findings.
Review, summarize and present customers' statement of work and requirements (SOW/SOR)
Create and maintain engineering documents such as DFMEA, DOE, BOMS, GD&T, Boundary Interface, tolerance stacks, etc.
Manage and monitor program specific DVP, create DVP&R and ensure that testing conditions conform with customer and/or federal requirements
Prepare product key/special characteristics matrices.
Maintain and update internal lessons learned matrices and best design practices.
Prepare and update internal engineering specifications and procedures.
Review inspection/validation reports and assist in resolution of field production problems.
Participate in root cause analysis and assist in implementing interim and permanent corrective actions through 5D/8D methodology.
Manage engineering internal and external changes and assist in production trial runs (PTR/PER).
Create and manage engineering prototypes purchase requisition and assist the prototype department in first offs assemblies.
Maintain internal and external product open issues list and program status summary sheet.
Actively assist the plants in program launches and support failures root cause analysis.
Create and develop CAD models of parts and assemblies.
Create and develop CAD drawings of parts and assemblies.
Able to make decisions and demonstrate problem solving skills
Perform other duties as necessary.
What You Bring:
2 years minimum experience in automotive Engineering or manufacturing engineering, vehicle interior is preferred.
University degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Applied Science.
Has knowledge of commonly-used design concepts, practices, and procedures within the automotive field.
Good understanding of FEA and MFA.
Demonstrate understanding of engineering theories and principles
Has knowledge of common manufacturing processes such as metal stamping and forming, plastic injection, etc.
CAD software experience required, Pro/E Creo beneficial
PLM software experience beneficial, such as Windchill, TCE, etc.
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, including executives
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures
Work Conditions:
Some travel may be required
Ability to attend and conduct presentations
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
40 hours typical, with additional overtime as required.
Available to work both days and afternoon shifts.
