As a skilled and creative Product Designer, you will be working in the Technical Department on the Product Support Team, responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D CAD models for products ensuring designs are accurate, manufacturable, meeting product and project requirements. You will collaborate with product engineers, designers, and other cross functional teams to develop innovative solutions and bring concepts to life through precise and functional designs, with the ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with product and development engineers to assist in the product support and maintenance requirements for our various Commercial AHUs
Provide design work and collaboration in support of development projects and activities as required
Create 2D and 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and specifications for new and existing product designs
Collaborate with engineers and design teams to refine product concepts and ensure alignment with technical requirements
Perform design revisions and updates based on feedback from stakeholders and various project phases
Ensure CAD models and designs adhere to industry standards, design best practices, and product specifications
Review and analyze product designs to identify potential improvements in functionality, manufacturability, and cost
Assist in the preparation of prototype designs and work with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth transitions from design to production
Maintain and organize design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and revision histories
Support the design process by creating visual presentations and rendering product concepts when needed
Prepare and maintain BOMs and as built drawings
Other activities as directed by the Design Manager
Skills, Education, and/or Experience
The following are education and experience criteria used to evaluate the suitability of the Product Designer Profile or candidates for the position:
Engineering or Technologist degree in mechanical engineering, product design, manufacturing design or related field
3+ years of proven experience in creating detailed product CAD models and drawings in a product design or manufacturing setting
Proficiency in CAD software such as CREO (ideal), SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar design tools
Solid understanding of product design principles, material properties, and manufacturing processes
Working knowledge and experience in sheet metal design for manufacturing
Experience in manufacturing processes, BOM creation and management, Engineering Change, ERP and PDM systems
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Excellent problem solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
Strong communication skills to interact with various cross functional teams and stakeholders
Working knowledge of industry standards related to product design and safety regulations
Experience with visualization and rendering software for product presentations
Flexible and adaptable to learning, understanding, and applying new technologies
Job Conditions
Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and looking at a computer.
Light physical effort - able to lift up to 20lbs at times.
