Your role
CBC P.E.I. is looking for a producer based in Charlottetown to lead the Island Morning team.
You will be responsible for what airs on morning radio \xe2\x80\x94 bringing fresh ideas, sharp editorial skills and a keen understanding of audio storytelling.
This position leads a team of 4 people and reports to the Executive Producer.
You believe in an inclusive approach to journalism. The show informs, entertains and speaks to the people of P.E.I. Your job is to enhance the connection and grow the audience by reaching underrepresented communities and more diverse and younger audiences.
You are a team player and work well with others. You lead with compassion and empathy.

Key tasks:
Lead the morning radio team in Charlottetown.
Assign which stories will air on the morning radio show, guide their creation, and edit them before they air.
Research, write and produce original story ideas that will engage and inform the audience.
Deepen our community connections and elevate the voices of equity deserving groups.
Occasionally present stories on-air, providing analysis and context to enhance the audience\xe2\x80\x99s understanding of issues.
Respond quickly to breaking news events as they unfold.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and break stories, plan features and coordinate long-term coverage.
Communicate with other producers and leaders and ensure radio content has a home on digital, social and television.
Qualifications
As a Producer, you will bring the following skills and experience to the CBC:
Graduation from University or Community College in a relevant course of study or equivalent industry experience
Ability to assign, manage and motivate staff, coordinate with other departments in a productive manner, and mediate disputes as they arise.
High-level knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to journalism.
Demonstrated professional experience using various news platforms, including strong audio editing and storytelling experience.
Knowledge of multi-media journalism - including text, social and video
Knowledge of and connection to equity-deserving communities across Prince Edward Island
Commitment to including all equity-deserving groups in our storytelling
Demonstrates the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture
Familiarity with live broadcasts, including ability to adapt to breaking and developing news
Ability to generate original story ideas and creative treatments
Ability to work in a high-pressure, tight deadline multi-platform environment
A natural interest and curiosity in current and emerging technologies
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
Flexibility in hours, including overtime, evenings and weekends
