This is a hybrid role with the requirement to work in the office 1-2 days a week (with the potential to increase in future).

This is a one-year temporary position.

Your role

Plans, conceives, organizes, and/or develops the production and realization of a (campaign) program segment, program, or series. Work must adhere to CBC journalistic and/or program policies, standards and practices and the Producer is ultimately responsible for ensuring that this occurs. Nevertheless, there is wide latitude for initiative, independent judgement and creativity. There is a regular and ongoing requirement to coordinate the work of others.

Key Tasks:
  • Conceives and develops content ideas and concepts. Participates in the preparation of program (campaign/project) objectives.
  • Develops content, including researching, gathering, writing, editing and/or distributing. As required, commissions writing and/or research. Prepares scripts, concepts and presentations. Determines the style, pace, tempo, line-up and format of the specific content.
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates (collaborates) the content or the components and/or segments of a campaign.
  • Plans, selects and requests, in collaboration with the Manager, the financial and production/resource requirements including the creative contributors and other participants, the material and facilities. During content preparation, production and post-production, is responsible and accountable for exercising budget authority as delegated.
  • Exercises editorial responsibility as delegated by Management.
  • Evaluates all facets of a production including the performance of content and production personnel, and freelance contributors.
As required, performs the following tasks:
  • Direct talent, sound and/or image.
  • Drafts promotional scripts and/or concepts for all platforms.
  • With the use of Terradici and Avid software, edit and mix, or direct the editing and mixing of audio and/or visual elements.
  • Oversee the shooting, editing, encoding, digitizing and packaging of digital audio, graphics and video for the internet as part of campaign.
  • In collaboration with the Marketing team determine the order and importance of the various elements of content and/or a campaign.
  • Develop content across all platforms, coordinating with all assigned personnel.
  • Identify, develop and maintain contacts appropriate to the area of assignment.
  • Coordinate the work of personnel who contribute to the content or campaign/project or segment for which the Producer is responsible.
  • Assures the maintenance of a level of communication or rapport with members of the team which is both feasible and appropriate to the style and nature of the campaign and participate in this activity as necessary.
  • Ensures branding, messaging and versioning aligns/adheres to that of the CBC.
  • Ensures, in collaboration with Copyright Clearance Officers, management or others, the proper and accurate clearance of all material used in the program (campaign/project).
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Job requires a university degree, or equivalent, specializing in Media, Communications and/or Film Studies.
  • Job requires five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of which three must involve work in broadcasting or a closely related industry, which is directly related to the area of assignment. A promotional reel will be required.
