As Produce Lead

, you guide the produce team in keeping the department clean, organized, and fully stocked with vibrant, high-quality fruits and vegetables. You oversee ordering and inventory, set up attractive displays, train and coach team members, and ensure food-safety standards are met, all while delivering friendly, knowledgeable service on the floor.

Time Requirements:

Store Level Administration/Computers



Keep Google Drive Organized and lead by example in appropriate usage of the Amaranth computer Systems. Adhering to best practices and policies in regards to Uploading/Downloading of documents, saving documents, saving in temp folders, Amaranth Files on Desktop, Naming Conventions, document creation. Category Manager grocery email to be addressed with tasks completed within 7 days of email being sent, and before the next weekly email. Communication to the CMG team is required for an extension after 7 days.

Produce Quality



Provide and maintain the highest product quality possible for our customers. Train team members to cull produce on a rotating schedule in order to maintain the highest quality on the sales floor.

Ordering



Work with vendors to bring in the highest quality of produce at the best negotiated price. Select new produce based on availability (season), customer needs, and demographics. Source out vendors that are local and able to meet our business needs in the way of producing variety and quality (organic, sustainable, etc.) cost, billing and delivery. Work with vendors for product credits in a timely manner.

Receiving



Physical receiving of shipments in a timely manner including pulling special orders and contacting customers, and putting stock out. Accurately receive invoices into the database system in a timely manner.

Credits



Manage damaged or mis-shipped products in a timely manner by requesting and following up on credits on a consistent basis.

Promotions/Seasonal Events



Assist Store Manager with preparations for Customer Appreciation Days (CAD) and Taste of Savings Days. Merchandise products and manage promotions within the Produce department.

Inventory Management and Reports



Maintain inventory levels and price produce in a competitive but profitable manner. Run and review produce reports as per the weekly and monthly reporting schedule. Ensure shelf tags contain correct information and replace when necessary. Ensure routine use of back-stock best practices and proper labeling. Manage inventory using the database system and maintain accurate shelf signage and pricing.

Human Resources



Provide feedback on team performance to the Store Manager. Ensure that safe food handling practices are being followed by staff.

Qualifications and Attributes:



Have a

minimum of 2 years of produce experience

or equivalent in a food services position

AHS Food Safety Certification or equivalen

t as recognized by AHS is an asset Intermediate to advanced computer skills with an emphasis in database operation and inventory management Ability to work with a

flexible attitude in a dynamic environment

Ability to

prioritize

and complete

projects

in a timely manner Excellent

organization and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of organic and natural foods

industry and produce and/or perishable products an asset

Basic Physical Requirements:



Stand for extended periods of time. Walk, bend and twist your body, reach above and below shoulders. Use of mops, brooms, cleaning products, knives, box cutters, carts, computers and printers. Use ladders of varying heights up to 12 feet. Ability to lift up to 50lbs maximum. Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and typing. Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures in coolers, freezers, and outdoors.
