Job Summary



The Produce Clerk is responsible for ensuring the produce section is well-stocked, fresh, and visually appealing for customers. This role includes rotating products, maintaining displays, and assisting customers in finding the items they need. You will play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience by offering excellent customer service and upholding company standards for freshness, cleanliness, and safety.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations



Stocking & Merchandising:

o Stock produce items onto shelves and ensure displays are well-organized and appealing.

o Rotate products regularly to maintain freshness and reduce waste.

o Build and maintain produce displays according to company standards and merchandising programs.

o Assist in the loading and unloading of products for the sales floor.

Inventory & Backroom Management

o Manage inventory in the backroom to ensure stock levels are maintained.

o Monitor product quality and notify management of any discrepancies or quality concerns.

Customer Service:

o Greet customers in a polite and friendly manner.

o Provide assistance in locating products and respond to customer inquiries.

o Operate the cash register as needed during peak hours to support front-end operations.

Compliance & Safety

o Uphold and comply with all company procedures, standards, and policies.

o Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines by maintaining a clean and safe workspace.

Store Readiness & Maintenance

o Support opening and closing procedures, including security measures and housekeeping duties.

o Keep the checkout area, shelves, and merchandise displays neat, tidy, and well-organized.

o Assist with general housekeeping duties, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness throughout the store, warehouse, parking lot and yard.

Professionalism & Appearance

o Maintain a professional, well-groomed appearance in line with the store's uniform policy.

Safety & Security

o Monitor for potential shoplifting incidents and take appropriate actions as per store policy.

o Follow and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for employees and customers.

o Ensure OHS standards are policies are being followed.

Team Support & Training

o Assist in training new personnel.

o Attend store meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

o Support store management with additional duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications



High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous retail experience is an asset.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.

Willingness to learn and continuously develop professional skills.

Working Conditions



Work in a fast-paced environment that requires long periods of standing and walking.

Exposure to cold storage areas.

Lift and carry merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $16.50-$18.00 per hour
