Looking for a challenge? Experience is an asset, but not necessary! We are currently hiring for a Produce Clerk at our Bay Roberts location.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide a positive working environment and handle issues appropriately and in a timely manner
Set up and maintain the condition of the produce department according to company standards
Provide customer service and ensure product quality and selection
Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast, friendly customer service
Address customer issues and determine optimal solutions
Engage in suggestive selling and other sales technique
Perform receiving duties including verifying orders against invoices, stacks, prices, and marks merchandise
Trim, cut, wrap trays, displays and water produce
Prevent shrink, damage and spoilage of product
Build produce displays, rotate and discard outdated or spoiled product to ensure freshness and quality
Use of related equipment such as knives, wrappers, scales, compactors, garbage disposals, hand trucks and pallet jacks
Maintain cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor
Maintain the eye-appeal of the department
Responsible to ensure optimal inventory levels
Practice and promote company policies and ensure compliance with all safety procedures
May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis
Creativity and willingness to learn
Desired Skills and Experience:
Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers
Must possess good communication skills
Ability to frequently reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs.
Ability to use equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks and hand trucks
Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Requires knowledge of basic math, and weights and measures.
Ability to learn proper handling, preparation, seasonality, and perishability of product, and department policies and procedures
Must have good working knowledge of food quality, hygiene and sanitation, kitchen safety and food presentation
Knowledge of food preparation/presentation for a wide variety of food items
Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk and move rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
Physical Environment:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job duties.
Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift and transport various objects, at times could weigh up to 30 lbs. (assistance will be provided with heavy items)
Must have the ability to stand, walk and/or move about for extended periods of time
Will involve frequent repetitive hand coordination
