Reports to: Store Manager, Produce Lead
Position Overview:
The Produce Clerk plays an essential role in supporting the daily operations of the Produce Department. This position contributes directly to Amaranth's mission of providing an outstanding experience every day by ensuring our produce displays are fresh, full, and appealing, and that customers receive friendly, attentive service.

Priority Accountabilities:

Customer Service:
Deliver friendly, helpful, and proactive customer service. Respond to questions, assist with product location, and connect customers with department experts as needed.
Shelves Full and Organized:
Ensure produce displays, coolers, and overstock areas are stocked, faced, clean, and inviting. Maintain accurate pricing and rotate stock following FIFO practices.
Quality Control:
Cull regularly and ensure only high-quality produce is on the sales floor. Report any damaged or mis-shipped items promptly.
Build Trust:
Uphold store standards, demonstrate reliability, and maintain clear communication with team members, vendors, and customers.
Secondary Accountabilities:
These accountabilities support the effective completion of the Priority Accountabilities:
Support other departments during peak times (e.g. receiving, stocking).
Maintain store cleanliness, including mopping, sweeping, and general tidying.
Assist with POS operations and customer transactions as needed.
Participate actively in training, meetings, and cross-department support.
Tactical Responsibilities:
These are the processes that the team member is responsible for executing:
Receive, verify, and process incoming produce shipments accurately.
Stock, down-stock, and rotate produce with attention to detail and freshness standards.
Manage back stock proactively and maintain organized storage.
Cull produce on a rotating schedule to maintain quality standards.
Ensure accurate pricing and signage.
Assist with special orders and credits as needed.
Qualifications and Attributes:
Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude.
Ability to follow procedures and work independently or collaboratively.
Intermediate computer skills, including database operation, are an asset
Familiarity with natural and organic food products is an asset.
Food Handling Safety certification is an asset.
Time Requirements:
Full-time or part-time hourly position.
Flexible working availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and shift coverage as needed.
Entitled to a 30-minute unpaid meal break for shifts longer than 5 consecutive hours.
Basic Physical Requirements:
Stand for extended periods of time.
Walk, bend, twist, reach above and below shoulders.
Use mops, brooms, cleaning supplies, carts, pallet jack, computers, and printers.
Use ladders up to 12 feet in height.
This role may include lifting items up to 50 lbs. Teamwork and tools, such as carts, are available to support these tasks.
Exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, freezers, outdoors).
